Job Description
Are you passionate about serving as the guiding voice and encouraging leader for Research and Predevelopment across all our businesses? Join our team and be one of the highest technical distinctions within Siemens, a role for a globally recognized expert who combines scientific depth with strategic influence, and who continues to remain deeply engaged in hands-on work.
You’ll break new ground
You develop and guide the Research and Predevelopment agenda across all Siemens’ core technology domains, including applied AI, automation, digitalization, and electrification.
You identify emerging areas that will define Siemens’ future, serve as the senior technical advisor to the leadership team, and ensure alignment of research strategy with Siemens’ global business and sustainability goals.
You translate long-term technological trends into actionable innovation roadmaps and investment priorities.
You evaluate and challenge major research programs to ensure outstanding scientific quality, scalability, and business relevance, and you drive excellence across all research programs, setting benchmarks for innovation quality and technical credibility.
You maintain active, hands-on engagement in technical work, from experimental research and modeling to architecture and prototyping, and you publish, patent, and contribute to the global scientific community as a recognized inspiring leader.
You mentor and coach Siemens’ global network of experts, you lead technical reviews, internal symposia, and cross-domain collaboration initiatives, and you foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and deep technical engagement across all research teams.
You represent Siemens at global scientific forums, strengthening its reputation as a technology leader, you build and sustain partnerships with top universities, research institutes, startups, and standardization bodies, and you identify and catalyze external collaborations that accelerate Siemens’ innovation and societal impact.
Your defining qualities
You hold a Ph.D. and have global recognition as a technical authority (e.g., IEEE/ACM, GI Fellow, major research awards, high-impact publications).
You have many years of leadership experience in industrial or applied research with a record of translating scientific innovation into tangible impact (e.g., products, patents, architectures, standards), and a broad understanding of multiple technology domains.
You have the ability to influence decisions at the executive level while remaining deeply connected to hands-on technical work, and you have experience in mentoring communities of engineers and scientists across subject areas and geographies.
You are a groundbreaking problem solver with a strong sense for disruption and business transformation, and you are skilled at bridging scientific rigor and practical application in sophisticated industrial environments.
You are an outstanding communicator who can inspire technical and executive audiences alike.
Passion for sustainable innovation, ethical technology, and human-centered design complete our profile.
You are much more than your qualifications, and we believe in the potential of every single candidate. We look forward to getting to know you!
