Job Description

The Senior Stock Controller is a critical position within the supply chain management team, responsible for overseeing inventory levels, monitoring stock movements, and ensuring the efficient operation of the inventory system. This role requires a keen analytical mind capable of handling complex inventory scenarios, identifying potential issues before they become problems, and implementing solutions to optimize stock levels. The Senior Stock Controller will collaborate closely with various departments including purchasing, logistics, and sales to ensure that stock availability aligns with demand forecasts. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage a team of stock controllers. With an emphasis on accuracy and control, this role will be pivotal in maintaining the company’s operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage overall inventory levels to ensure accuracy and control.
  • Conduct regular audits to reconcile physical stock with the inventory management system.
  • Develop and implement stock control policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and procurement teams to optimize stock replenishment cycles.
  • Monitor and report on stock levels, noting any potential issues or shortages.
  • Lead and mentor a team of junior stock controllers to ensure best practices.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to forecast demand and adjust stock strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements in stock management.
  • Improve logistics and warehouse workflows to enhance inventory efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed records of inventory movements and adjustments for audit purposes.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential inventory risks and disruptions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory management or stock control.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in inventory management software and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
