A Teller is integral to the daily operations of any banking institution, acting as the first point of contact for customers. At the forefront of a bank's customer service, Tellers perform a variety of tasks that require precision, integrity, and a strong customer focus. The role involves processing routine financial transactions efficiently and accurately while ensuring adherence to the bank's policies and procedures. The Teller is responsible for managing cash transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and ensuring accurate record-keeping of transactions. Confidence and familiarity with banking products and services enable the Teller to identify potential sales opportunities and contribute to branch success by offering tailored solutions to meet customer needs. Their responsibilities extend beyond transactions, encompassing customer care and ensuring a positive customer experience. Joining as a Teller requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, providing a blend of financial acuity and customer service excellence.


Responsibilities

  • Process customer transactions efficiently, ensuring accuracy and professionalism at all times.
  • Maintain and balance the cash drawer daily while adhering to cash handling policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Cross-sell bank services and products to enhance the financial well-being of customers.
  • Verify identities and validate the legality of transactions to ensure fraud prevention.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of bank policies and compliance regulations.
  • Assist in training new tellers by providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Perform end-of-day closing procedures and balance the branch cash vault.
  • Respond to customer requests for financial advice and manage customer accounts.
  • Prepare required reports on customer transactions and submit them to the supervisor.
  • Engage customers with a warm approach to build lasting relationships.
  • Contribute to branch goals by meeting or exceeding individual sales targets.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a background in finance preferred.
  • Proficient in basic math and competent in handling financial transactions.
  • Excellent customer service skills with strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Good organizational skills and the capability to multitask effectively.
  • Previous experience in banking or financial services is advantageous.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of banking software and Microsoft Office suite.
