Undertake projects in Central West Queensland that enhance the profitability, productivity, competitiveness and environmental sustainability of Queenslands extensive livestock industry.
Support activities of the Grazing Futures (https://futurebeef.com.au/) as well as Leading Sheep, Pasture Resilience and other associated projects in the western region.
Assist to develop technical and information materials and training and ensure follow-up activities to assist with adoption of best management practice across livestock businesses.
Understand and use a range of extension methodologies, including face to face as well as web-based webinars and on-line training, to build relationships with stakeholders to achieve improved enterprise performance and environmental outcomes.
Contribute to monitoring and reporting of the impact and value of Departmental services and projects to beef, sheep and goat producers.
Support effective collaborative partnerships within DPI across government, producers and industry.
Adhere to project and governance processes within a leading RD&E organisation.
What Are We Looking For
There are some qualifications that we see as essential.
Essential Requirements
It is a mandatory requirement for a professional officer to possess an Australian Bachelors degree (AQF level 7 or equivalent) or higher in Animal, Agricultural or Environmental Science from a recognised tertiary institution.
Commitment to obtaining vaccination or provision of evidence of prior immunity to Q fever will be required prior to starting.
Desirable Attributes
Agricultural extension experience is advantageous.
Understanding of regional and rural communities and extensive livestock businesses.
Experience in remote working environments as the position will include travel for extended periods in western Queensland.
