Position Overview

The General Accountant is responsible for performing various accounting duties to ensure the company’s financial transactions comply with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. This role focuses on ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting audits while staying up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations affecting the accounting and compliance processes.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities by gathering financial data, preparing templates, and updating projections
  • Support monthly/quarterly performance reviews through analysis of trends, variances, risks, and opportunities
  • Develop and maintain basic financial models to support management decision-making
  • Provide insights and analytical dashboards to help evaluate business performance and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate with internal teams to transform operational data into financial insights
  • Contribute inputs to management presentations, reports, and planning sessions

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings
  • Ensure strict compliance with BIR and other regulatory documentation requirements
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment on financial compliance and
  • reporting standards
  • Support the implementation of accounting systems and controls to ensure financial integrity and compliance
  • Assist in the development and improvement of compliance-related accounting processes

Internal Audit

  • Conduct periodic internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of financial controls, processes, and compliance with company policies
  • Identify risks, control gaps, and areas for improvement in financial and operational processes
  • Prepare internal audit reports, provide recommendations, and follow up on corrective actions
  • Partner with management to strengthen internal controls and ensure organizational efficiency

Financial Record Maintenance

  • Record and reconcile financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of the accounting books and financial transactions

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Generate various financial reports to support decision-making processes
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to management

Account Reconciliation

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies

Financial Analysis

  • Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions
  • Provide recommendations based on analysis results

Accounts Receivable and Payable

  • Manage and oversee the accounts receivable and payable processes
  • Ensure timely collection of receivables and accurate processing of payables

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Work closely with department heads to gather financial information for budget analysis

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial operations
  • Collaborate with team members to implement best practices

Other Ad Hoc Tasks

  • Collaborate with other departments/subsidiaries within the organization to ensure consistency and accuracy in group accounting activities
  • Perform other accounting duties that may be assigned from time to time
  • Recommend and proactively implement opportunities for increased departmental efficiency
  • Extend work hours when needed

WHAT SHOULD YOU HAVE?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Solid foundation in accounting principles
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and basic accounting software
  • Knowledge of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting basics
  • Knowledge of collaboration tools (Slack, MS Teams)
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Exposure to financial reporting cycles (monthly/quarterly/year-end)
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Dependable and committed to meeting deadlines
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a client-service environment
