The General Maintenance Worker – Plumber is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of the facilitys plumbing and water distribution systems. The position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on water supply lines, drainage systems, sanitary fixtures, pumps, and related plumbing equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and uninterrupted environment. The General Maintenance Worker – Plumber responds promptly to plumbing concerns, complies with applicable safety standards and building regulations, and supports the Engineering Department in maintaining the hospitals facilities through quality workmanship and timely service.
Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of plumbing systems and fixtures.
Inspect water supply, drainage, sewer, and stormwater systems to ensure proper operation.
Monitor water pressure and identify potential plumbing issues before they become major problems.
Repair and Installation
Install, repair, and replace water pipes, valves, faucets, toilets, sinks, urinals, drains, pumps, and other plumbing fixtures.
Repair leaks, clogged drains, damaged pipelines, and defective plumbing components.
Install new plumbing lines and fixtures during renovation or expansion projects.
Troubleshooting
Diagnose plumbing problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.
Respond promptly to plumbing-related service requests and emergency repairs.
Coordinate with other maintenance personnel during major repairs or facility improvement projects.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure all plumbing work complies with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and hospital policies.
Observe proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
Maintain cleanliness of work areas after completing repairs.
Documentation
Record completed maintenance and repair activities.
Report recurring plumbing issues and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
Maintain inventory of plumbing tools, materials, and spare parts, and report shortages.
General Maintenance Support
Assist other Engineering or Maintenance personnel in general facility maintenance when required.
Participate in emergency response and disaster preparedness activities related to facility operations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director or Facilities Manager.
Assist in housekeeping responsibilities associated with keeping the facility clean, sterile, and orderly.
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH:
Uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency in line with hospital quality programs (e.g. Safecare, DOH, etc.) requirements.
Ensure a safe and secure work environment by strictly adhering to infection prevention and control protocols such as but not limited to handwashing, wearing of PPE, etc.
Identifying, reporting & self-managing hazards where appropriate.
Early and accurate reporting of incidents at work and raising issues of concern when identified.
Commit to sustainable and eco-friendly work practices by minimizing waste, optimizing resource usage, and actively participating in initiatives that promote environmental stewardship.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education Required: At least a High School Graduate or equivalent.
With TESDA NCII Certification for Plumbing
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in building maintenance, specializing in plumbing.
With background on carpentry, welding and construction works
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair techniques.
Ability to read plumbing layouts, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Skilled in using plumbing tools and testing equipment.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Basic knowledge of pumps, water tanks, and sanitary systems.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer service.
