Job Description
The Farm Production Technician is responsible for supporting daily operations, ensuring the health and productivity of the swine herd. This role involves specific tasks tailored to the assigned unit or section and various tasks including feeding, monitoring animal health, maintaining facilities and equipment and assisting with biosecurity measures.

Duties And Responsibilities
UNIT: BREEDING & GESTATION
Assist in implementing the genetic program and monitors, evaluates and analyzes results of the genetic program.
Assist in ensuring compliance of the section to the approved genetic program.
Assist in monitoring and ensuring accuracy, completeness and correctness of breeders profile and breeder animals individual records in the field and in the swine production management software.
Carry out heat detection, artificial insemination, boar semen collection and semen processing activities and ensure compliance to the sections SOPs.
Assist in assessing and monitoring the breeding activities to ensure that production performance targets are achieved.
Reports any issues or concerns that may be noted in the breeding activities.
Monitor the health and progress of pregnant sows, ensuring they receive proper care and nutrition.
Assist with ultrasound and other diagnostic procedures to confirm pregnancies.
Maintain accurate records of gestation periods and expected farrowing dates.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of breeding and gestation activities, including AI dates, pregnancy checks, and farrowing schedules.
Monitor sows for any signs of illness or distress and report concerns to the Farm Supervisor.
Administer vaccinations and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Ensure that sows have access to clean water, proper feed, and comfortable living conditions.
Ensure that breeding and gestation facilities are clean, well-maintained, and biosecure.
Assist with the setup and operation of breeding and gestation pens.
Assist in conducting routine checks of equipment and facilities and ensure that appropriate repair and maintenance activities are applied.
Follow strict biosecurity protocols to prevent the spread of diseases.
Participate in training programs related to biosecurity and farm safety.
Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Assist in analyzing performance gaps and recommend measures to address gaps.
Recommend and implement enhancements to existing breeding programs and activities.
Coordinate with other sections to ensure seamless integration of the breeding processes to the entire swine production flow.
Carry out barn management activities to maintain the cleanliness, orderliness and functionality of the breeding and gestation facilities.
Carry out procedures relating to the proper management of gilts, sows and boars in the section.
Conduct activities related to hog sales declaration and selling of pigs in the farm.
Collect and record swine operations data & maintains production records.
Prepare reports on reproductive performance and unit operations for management review.
Assist with other farm operations as needed, including breeding, nursery, and finishing units.
Support the Farm Supervisor in implementing efficient workflows and improving farm operations.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to farm planning and decision-making processes.
UNIT: LACTATION
Provide support in the farrowing process, ensuring the health and well-being of sows and piglets during farrowing and lactation.
Assist in monitoring sows, assisting with farrowing and providing care to newborn piglets.
Monitor sows during the farrowing process to ensure safe delivery of piglets.
Assist with farrowing, including providing assistance to sows in labor and ensuring piglets are healthy and nursing properly.
Record farrowing dates, litter sizes, and piglet health status.
Provide care to newborn piglets, including ensuring they receive colostrum, maintaining proper temperatures, and monitoring their health.
Perform tasks such as teeth clipping, tail docking, and iron injections as needed.
Monitor piglets for any signs of illness or distress and report concerns to the Farm Supervisor.
Ensure sows receive proper nutrition and care during farrowing and lactation.
Administer vaccinations and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Maintain accurate records of sow health and lactation performance.
Ensure that farrowing facilities are clean, well-maintained, and biosecure.
Assist with the setup and operation of farrowing pens.
Assist in conducting routine checks of equipment and facilities and ensure that appropriate repair and maintenance activities are applied.

Maintain accurate health records for all piglets, including treatments and vaccinations.
Implement biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
Ensure that nursery facilities are clean, well-maintained, and biosecure.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and facilities.
Assist with the setup and operation of nursery pens and environmental controls.
Assist in conducting routine checks of equipment and facilities and ensure that appropriate repair and maintenance activities are applied.

Observe pigs for signs of illness or distress and report any issues to the Farm Supervisor.
Administer vaccinations, treatments, and medications as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Maintain accurate health and treatment records for all pigs.
Conduct activities related to hog sales declaration and selling of pigs in the farm.
Implement biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
Ensure that grow-finish facilities are clean, well-maintained, and biosecure.
Assist in conducting routine checks of equipment and facilities and ensure that appropriate repair and maintenance activities are applied.
Assist with the setup and operation of grow-finish pens and environmental controls.

Other Farm Tasks
Conduct other farm operational duties that may be assigned to ensure attainment of the farms goals and deliverables.
Train breeding and gestation staff to build the competency of the team in order to achieve performance targets.
Food Safety
Ensures execution of quality and food safety policy, standards and regulations within the team.
Responsible for reporting problems related to Halal, food safety & quality management system to appropriate authorities.
Other Tasks
Actively participate in all company programs and activities under quality improvement, safety & security, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, risk management etc.
Performs other tasks related to the job as may be assigned by the immediate superior.
Qualifications
Education:
Must have a degree in Animal Science, Animal Husbandry or other related courses
Experience
Preferably 2-3 years work experience in a 500-sow level swine operation as a technician in the Breeding and Gestation unit.
