Job Summary
The Head of Finance is responsible for leading Pinnacle Hire’s financial control environment, reporting integrity, and finance operations delivery across the business. This role ensures strong financial discipline, accurate and timely reporting, robust financial controls, and scalable finance processes that support business growth and operational performance. The Head of Finance is accountable for delivering reliable financial information, maintaining balance sheet integrity, and leading the day-to-day execution performance of the finance function. The role supports operational decision-making through accurate financial insight, performance transparency, and timely reporting that enables effective business decision-making. The role is also responsible for driving continuous optimisation of finance processes, improving automation, and ensuring the finance function can scale efficiently as the business grows. The Head of Finance operates as the execution leader of the finance function, working in close partnership with the CFO, who retains accountability for financial strategy, capital allocation, commercial finance direction, and external stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
Financial Control & Reporting Excellence 20% – Accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across the business.
- Own monthly close accuracy, balance sheet integrity, and reporting timeliness
- Lead statutory compliance, audit coordination, and regulatory reporting
- Maintain strong financial controls across revenue, inventory, and asset accounting
- Drive standardisation of finance processes nationally
- Ensure ERP and reporting systems deliver reliable decision-grade data
Working Capital Execution & Cash Discipline 15% – Support strong working capital performance and cash discipline across the business.
- Ensure high-quality financial data and process discipline support strong working capital performance and cash outcomes.
- Implement cost-control measures while maintaining operational effectiveness.
- Monitor key financial metrics to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Support growth through disciplined financial management and effective cost allocation.
Commercial & Operational Finance Leadership 15%
- Partner with Regional Leaders to improve depot profitability and asset returns
- Support pricing strategy, contract profitability, and customer margin analysis
- Deliver profitability visibility by: Customer, Segment, Asset Class, and Contract Type
- Support capital investment analysis and post-investment performance tracking
- Support asset lifecycle decision making (buy, hold, redeploy, dispose)
Process Optimisation, Automation & Finance Productivity 15%
- Identify, prioritise, and deliver finance process optimisation initiatives.
- Drive automation of manual and repetitive finance processes.
- Improve finance productivity through standardisation and system enhancement.
- Reduce manual processing, duplication, and non-value-add activities.
- Improve reporting speed, data availability, and decision support capability.
- Partner with IT and Systems teams to improve finance system capability and integration.
- Deliver measurable finance efficiency and productivity improvements.
- Build scalable finance processes to support future business growth.
Asset & Inventory Financial Governance 10% – Support financial visibility, accuracy, and control of fleet and inventory assets
- Maintain accurate asset and inventory accounting
- Support reconciliation between operational and financial asset systems
- Support visibility of asset utilisation, idle asset cost, and asset performance
- Support asset lifecycle financial performance reporting
- Drive continuous improvement in inventory processes, systems, and data quality to enhance visibility, reporting accuracy, and decision-making.
- Support cash flow management through effective inventory capital allocation and minimisation of idle or slow-moving assets.
Finance Transformation & Capability Building 10%
- Build scalable finance processes to support growth.
- Lead offshore finance delivery model effectiveness.
- Improve automation, data quality, and reporting speed.
- Drive finance maturity uplift across the business.
- Support rollout of profitability visibility models (e.g., Try Before You Buy).
Leadership & Culture 10% – Leadership & Team Development
- Set clear performance expectations and accountability standards
- Develop technical and professional capability across the finance team

Risk, Governance & Compliance 5%
- Maintain strong financial governance and audit readiness.
- Support contract risk and commercial risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance across tax, payroll, super, and statutory reporting.
Requirements
Education/Certificates
- CA or CPA qualification preferred.
Experience & Knowledge
- 5+ years in a senior finance leadership role, preferably within equipment rental, plant hire, or asset-intensive industries.
- Demonstrated success managing high-growth businesses with expertise in cash flow optimisation and cost control.
- Experience leading accounting and transaction finance teams.
- Experience in multi-entity or multi-site businesses.
- Experience working with offshore or distributed teams.
- Experience in asset-intensive or operational businesses (desirable).
- Experience driving process optimisation, automation, and finance transformation (highly desirable).
