Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks part-time faculty to teach Psychology courses. Adjunct Faculty teach and evaluate students, prepare and revise course syllabi and other educational materials. Part-time Adjunct Faculty will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage students in critical thinking and problem-solving. Part-time Adjunct Faculty contribute to the overall operation of the College, support the mission of the institute, and employ the philosophical commitment of the community college environment.

Essential Duties
Creates an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
Designs courses that have clearly articulated learning outcomes that are student centered and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.
Prepares syllabi that include student learning objectives and student learning outcomes.
Develops and designs an assessment program that includes regular and useful feedback to students in an objective, consistent, and timely manner; evaluates and documents student performance using established methods and criteria and records course grades promptly.
Commits to engaging and improving upon behavioral commitments that foster inclusivity and a sense of belonging amongst students.
Stays abreast of innovations and current trends in one’s specific academic discipline as they pertain to pedagogy and technology and continuously reflect on and refine their craft.
Demonstrates excellence in teaching and a commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process.
Fosters a safe environment that respects the diversity of individuals and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
Employs a variety of teaching methods to meet students’ varying learning needs, abilities, and interests and to optimize student outcomes.
Teaches in a manner consistent with the philosophy, policies, and guidelines of the college.
Qualifications
Master’s in Psychology or Master’s in Clinical Psychology; specialized/applied degrees (e.g., School, Counseling, and Industrial-Organizational) should be evaluated according to tested experiences with a thorough graduate course review.
Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
Excellent verbal and written skills required with the ability to communicate persuasively with tact and diplomacy.
The ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment.
Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
Has a disposition towards developing the competencies outlined in the City Colleges Academic Excellence Pillars.
Knowledge of Brightspace or similar Learning Management System preferred.
