CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in leading-edge basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. CRAG is established as a Consortium of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). The Center is located at the UAB Campus, and currently hosts 200 members from across the world.

Research Programs at CRAG (from basic science to applied research using plant experimental model systems, crops and farm animals) make extensive use of genomic technologies and large sets of genetic and genomic data (https://www.cragenomica.es/sites/default/files/2022-07/crag-summary-2020-2021_0.pdf ).

Responsibilities

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a Laboratory Technician to be part of the group "Plant viruses".

The team is searching for technical support in tasks related with current projects of the Plant Virus group, in particular with the project PID2022-139376OB-C33 "Conceiving and improving resistance to insect-transmitted viruses in tomato: genetic and innovative approaches related to host-pathogen-vector interactions". Activities will include the management of different pathosystems (viruses, host plants, and insect vectors) and molecular methods for their study to contribute to the project objectives. The candidate will collaborate in experiments conducted at CRAG with plant pathogenic viruses on selected host plants, and using different inoculations procedures, including transmission mediated by insect vectors.

Requirements

Educational requirements: Grade in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Agricultural Sciences or similar.

Skills: Motivation for research activities. Capacity for team work. Fluency in english (written and spoken). Knowledge in informatics.

Experience: Previous training and experience in research projects related to Molecular Biology and Plant Sciences, Phytopathology, and Plant Virology.

Working Conditions

Contract Duration: 9 months.

Hours/week: full time.
