Nature of the Position

The role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and models that support the organizations reporting and analytics needs. This includes automating data extraction from multiple source systems, loading data into centralized storage environments (such as databases, data warehouses, or lakehouses), and developing metadata-driven data models for business intelligence purposes. The position collaborates closely with BI Report Developers and business stakeholders to ensure consistency, scalability, and usability of data outputs.

The role also involves staying current with relevant tools, API documentation, and system configurations, as well as guiding and mentoring junior team members while supporting the team leader in overseeing performance. The incumbent may lead migration projects to new technologies, manage tool-related costs, and independently drive data initiatives with minimal supervision. Additionally, the position ensures the implementation of data quality checks, validation frameworks, and secure, fault-tolerant data pipelines in accordance with international data security standards such as ISO 27001:2022.

Key Responsibilities

Report Definition

• Understand and document business requirements in terms of reporting needs from business
  
  

Data Gathering and Input

• Gather and maintain a wide array of data-related business processes and reporting
• Enter information into existing databases and creating new processes and programs to accurately input and store critical data at scale
• Work with data structures and metadata to ensure quality, consistency, security, and accessibility
  
  

Information Analysis

• Take an active role in data analysis and interpretation
• Analyse trends of tools used by Data Engineering team (cost, utilisation %, etc.)
• Exercise sound judgment while analysing and interpreting data to ensure a high level of accuracy, timeliness, and usefulness for business leaders
  
  

Reports Preparation

• Help prepare business documents and presentations for Business Intelligence Lead and other management staff
• Use data-gathering and modeling strategies to provide an overview of new processes and enhanced procedures for business-wide reporting with minimal supervision
• Help prepare performance reports of team members
  
  

Data Management Design

• Understand and improve business concepts behind database design, source systems, data models used reporting
  
  

Business Teams Collaboration and Leadership

• Work across business lines, conferring with Business Intelligence team and department POCs/Leads/Managers/Executives to gather requirements and specifications while developing enhanced data models with minimal supervision
• Work directly with other seniors, team leaders, managers to gain a better sense of the current shortcomings in ETL and Database technology and devise solutions to enhance data management with minimal supervision
  
  

Systems and Database Auditing

• Help ensure a high level of security, accuracy, and efficiency by conducting routine audits of data storage systems and databases, conducting many tests and analysing the results before devising new solutions or finding ways to enhance data management solutions with minimal supervision
• Maintain data capture in source systems with high attention using standard business processes with minimal supervision

What Youll Need To Succeed

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

(Includes Technical Knowledge, Qualifications, Legislation, Regulations Etc.)

• Bachelors Degree in any computer related courses, Information Management, or equivalent work experience
• 3-5 years experience of ETL/ELT work
• 2-3 years experience of creating data models for reporting purposes
• 2-3 years experience of using a reusable framework for ETL/ELT work
• 2-3 years experience in documenting workflows and processes
• 1-2 years experience in doing testing ETL/ELT work

Technical Skills

Exposure to the following tools is needed

• ETL tools like Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or similar
• SQL Database Stored Procedures, Functions, Views

• Data Warehousing
• Any programming languages used for ETL
• Documenting business requirements to translate into technical specification
• Python for data extraction
