Hi! Were Smartsourcing, and were looking for a full-time, onsite, Digital Fine Artist to play a critical role in our clients creative production process. Youll translate traditional artwork—watercolor, oil, and pencil—into digital needlepoint charts, preserving the soul of each piece while adapting it for precision-based production.

Where? JEG Tower, Archbishop Reyes, Corner Acacia St., Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City, 6000 Cebu

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Fine Artist to translate original artwork—such as watercolor, oil, or colored pencil illustrations—into digital needlepoint canvas charts. This role is critical to our production workflow and removes a major bottleneck in our business. This is not a graphic design role. It requires a strong fine art background, an excellent artistic eye, and the ability to interpret and simplify artwork while preserving its character and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert fine art (watercolor, oil, colored pencil, etc.) into digital stitch charts
• Translate artwork into a pixel-based grid suitable for needlepoint canvas
• Use Max Stitch software (training provided)
• Interpret gradients, shading, and textures into simplified stitch-friendly designs
• Make artistic judgment calls to:
• Reduce color palettes while maintaining visual impact
• Optimize designs for needlepoint stitching
• Prepare digital charts that production artists use as paint-by-number guides
• Revise and adjust designs digitally as needed (colors, shapes, layout)
• Collaborate with leadership, designers, and production teams
• Potentially help train future team members as the team grows
  

About You Required Qualifications

• Strong fine art background (degree preferred but not required)
• Demonstrated skill in:
• Color theory
• Shading and value
• Proportion and composition
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator or similar digital art tools
• Ability to learn new, niche software quickly
• Portfolio demonstrating fine art or illustration work
• Willingness to work exclusively in a full-time role
• Experience with watercolor, oil painting, or similar traditional mediums
• Illustration experience
• Prior work translating art into constrained formats (pixels, grids, embroidery, etc.)
• Teaching or mentoring experience (for future team growth)
