Business Development Associate (with Grant Writing Capability)
Parity Homes | Baltimore, MD
Parity Homes is a nationally recognized nonprofit real estate development company transforming vacant housing into pathways to homeownership. We are expanding our institutional funding partnerships with banks, foundations, and philanthropic investors to scale our impact across Maryland and beyond.
We are seeking a Business Development Associate who leads with relationship cultivation and capital strategy first -- and supports proposal writing second.
This is a revenue-oriented role. You will be responsible for helping Parity build, nurture, and close institutional funding partnerships. We already have strong grant language, proof points, and programmatic clarity. What we need is someone who can get us in the room, move conversations forward, and help secure commitments.
Role Overview
The Business Development Associate will:
Build and manage a pipeline of foundation, corporate, and institutional prospects
Cultivate relationships with program officers, CRA officers, philanthropic leaders, and strategic partners
Develop and execute outreach strategies that lead to meetings and funding opportunities
Support negotiation and closing of grants, sponsorships, and catalytic capital partnerships
Customize and refine proposals using existing grant language and materials
Track cultivation stages, follow-up cadence, and revenue targets
This role is ideal for someone who sees themselves as a capital closer -- not just a writer.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Revenue Generation
Identify and research aligned funders, grant opportunities, and institutional partners that support Parity Homes mission and housing programs.
Stay informed on funding trends, best practices in grant strategy, and emerging opportunities
Develop and execute strategic outreach and cultivation plans
Secure introductions, lead cultivation meetings, and manage follow-up communications
Move prospects from initial interest to formal proposal submission and funding commitment
Coordinate cross-functionally with leadership, finance, and program teams to align funding needs and ensure timely submissions
Maintain accurate CRM tracking for pipeline management, submission status, and conversion rates
Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective funders
Grant Writing & Proposal Management
Collaborate with organizational leaders and program staff to understand funding priorities and objectives
Develop, write, edit, and tailor compelling grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documents
Adapt existing grant language to meet specific funder requirements and guidelines
Assemble complete proposal packages, including budgets, financial documentation, and required attachments
Ensure all submissions meet funder criteria and deadlines
Manage the full grant submission process and maintain detailed records of submissions and outcomes
Support post-award administration, including compliance, reporting, and progress updates
Partner with finance and program teams to prepare and submit required financial and impact reports
Contribute to strategic planning efforts to align grant-seeking activities with organizational growth goals
Qualifications
3-7 years experience in business development, institutional fundraising, or strategic partnerships
Demonstrated experience securing five- or six-figure institutional funding (seven-figure preferred)
Strong relationship cultivation and communication skills
Comfort making direct funding asks
Ability to synthesize complex programmatic work into compelling narratives
Organized, deadline-oriented, and CRM disciplined
Bonus
Experience with banks, CRA partnerships, or housing/development finance
Experience working in high-growth nonprofit environments
What Success Looks Like (First 12-18 Months)
Build and actively manage a robust pipeline of aligned funders
Secure multiple new institutional funding commitments
Shorten cultivation timelines through disciplined follow-up
Position Parity as a top-tier development partner among regional and national funders
