Failure Analysis Material Analyst Engineer

Job Description

I. Basic Purpose of the Job

Responsible for conducting materials analysis and in-charge of supervision of Materials Analysis & Evaluation Laboratory. The Materials Analyst provides inspection support, technical and engineering assistance relative to Quality Assurance, material evaluation/qualification and process quality improvements. Also responsible in driving FA technique development

II. Reporting Relationship

The position reports to the Failure Analysis Laboratory Department Manager

III. Major Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs analysis of materials related to manufacturing issues
• Performs analysis of materials related to evaluation or qualification activities
• Maintains functionality of equipment in the Materials Analysis and Evaluation Laboratory
• Assists in critical activities of package reliability improvement projects
• Assists in the analysis and resolution of customer issues.
• Documentation and training lab analysts on sample prep, and physical analysis techniques and tools.
• Formulate/revise specifications, technical reports, and budget proposals.
• Spearhead the FA Technique Development / standardization processes
• Understand theoretical and practical operation and maintenance of common F/A equipment (SEM, EDS, SAT, radiographic, optical microscopes, plasma etchers, etc.).
• Comply to company policies and other industry standard requirements
  
  

IV. Job Specifications

• Education / Experience
• This position requires a BS Degree in engineering preferably Material / Material Science, Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.
• Preferred with atleast 1 yr experience as laboratory analyst and in manufacturing in a semiconductor company is desired.
• Skills
• Possess analytical and problem-solving skills
• Hands-on experience in EDX, DSC, AFM, FTIR, TGA, TMA & DMA
• Knowledge of thermal and surface analysis is an advantage.
