Position Overview

Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production machinery, with a primary focus on production equipment while supporting mechanically related facilities and utilities. The role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and maintains compliance with environmental, quality, and safety standards. The Maintenance Lead also supervises maintenance personnel, manages in-house fabrication activities, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and drives process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and equipment performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop the maintenance team, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of maintenance activities.
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and reliability of production equipment, while providing support for mechanically related facilities and utilities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor preventive, corrective, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs to maximize equipment uptime and performance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, implement corrective actions, and recommend improvements or modifications to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Manage in-house fabrication, machining, and other mechanical support activities required for production and plant operations.
  • Ensure the availability of materials, spare parts, tools, and resources needed for maintenance and fabrication work.
  • Lead and coordinate equipment improvement projects, including those involving external contractors and service providers.
  • Collaborate with the PM Planner to schedule and execute planned and unplanned maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Coach and mentor maintenance personnel on technical skills, maintenance planning, and best practices.
  • Lead or participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as DMAIC, FMECA, RCA, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and Breakdown Analysis.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with operations teams, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance equipment efficiency, reliability, safety, and overall plant performance.
  • Provide maintenance support during emergencies, holidays, rest days, or shifting schedules as required by operations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Engineering & Project Manager.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must be a Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME).

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, production equipment supervision, and machining/fabrication activities, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.

Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of production machinery, mechanical systems, in-house machining, and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance, TPM programs, and maintenance improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to supervise, motivate, and develop maintenance personnel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coordination skills to effectively work with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes, recommend solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
