What Youll Be Doing

The Product Development Scientist I understands Local Market consumer preferences and needs and competitive landscape, identifies local market trends, and translates these insights into talk-worthy local innovations with relevant claims and claims messaging that are superior to competition, will deliver consumer satisfaction, and will hit the target %GM to support the business. Manage the end-to-end local innovation formula development, from ideation to commercialization, both in-house and with external partner vendors, working closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance to local markets regulatory requirements and to safety and quality protocols, and making sure that Avon policies are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape according to local market needs, and translate those insights into Beauty innovations with relevant claims and effective claims messaging, superior to competition, aligned to cost target, while having the right formula sensorial and overall user experience that will deliver consumer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with Local Market Category Leads and Product Research & Claims Substantiation Lead to drive talk-worthy product benefits and claims and engaging claims messaging.
• Lead the formula development and implementation of local market-led innovations while ensuring compliance with Avon standards, regulations, and sustainability goals as applicable.
• Determine available capacity vs. required resources from formula ideation and feasibility to implementation.
• Align product testing and claims substantiation test plans with relevant functions to meet Avon standards and local market regulations.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting innovation, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the matrix team in formula-related matters.
• Review formula samples and submission and ensure adherence to aligned local market brief.
• Align project schedule (PERT) according to formula development leadtime and required testing for both in-house and external vendor development.
