Job Description Summary

The GIS Data Analyst is a vital player is responsible for analysis, validation, and evaluation of GIS data focusing on pipeline management utilizing various GIS related software and techniques. Their role encompasses accurate analysis and reporting of GIS data collected with our innovative pipeline inspection platforms that is of utmost importance to the owners of water and wastewater civil infrastructure. The insights gleaned are then transformed into compelling visual narratives and detailed reports that resonate across departments, influencing policy and practice. Our group of highly skilled GIS Analysts provide our customers with critical mapping information for visualization and excavations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and digitize pipeline engineering drawings.
• Analyze and interpret client provided data for mapping and visualization.
• Processing of raw GPS data collected in the field to be stored in GIS database.
• Perform correlation of pipeline mapping with pipeline inspection data.
• Continually improve mapping accuracy using inspection data from state of the are platforms and services offered by Xylem.
• Produce maps based on the analysis of data inspection of a pipeline mainly for excavation.
• Produce geodatabases based on available mapping information and inspection data.
• Work closely with the project team to: understand the full scope of a project; obtain all required project information and schedule; and resolve any concerns or problems with mapping data.
• Receive and process client GIS and field GPS data
• Create data deliverables for client
• Support field crews with data related issues
• Manage and create databases and maintain data integrity
• Troubleshoot Trimble unit issues
• Review/validate spatial data in ArcMap to ensure field GPS and notes agree with client GIS data
  
  

Qualifications

• BS/BA in GIS, Geography, Geology, Geodetic Engineering, Forestry related fields OR 2 years equivalent work experience
• Strong knowledge on ESRI products (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online)
• Strong knowledge of ESRI’s geodatabase model, design, and management
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• A significant understanding of information management (relational databases, GIS, and GPS).
• The ability to work with like-minded professionals in a team environment, but also having the ability to work effectively under minimal supervision.
• A proven ability to solve complicated technical and business workflow problems.
• The ability to communicate data and procedural discrepancies to both management and field crews.
• The ability to leverage custom scripting to automate existing business processes.
