The role ensures effective, efficient, and sustainable execution of engineering operations to support the requirements of multiple plants. It includes strategic development and implementation of maintenance management systems for production equipment and all the various utility systems, refrigeration, compressed air, power, fuel, steam, water treatment and wastewater treatment. The Engineering Director sets goals, develops strategies, and action plans, to optimize all resources (manpower, machine, methods materials), standardizes systems to ensure stability and availability of production and utility equipment. The role includes continuously developing the roadmap of engineering, introducing innovations and operational improvements to deliver value to the business. The role manages engineering teams of the big manufacturing sites and Utilities, building their capabilities and desired culture in executing according to standards and works collaboratively with the whole Engineering Services. The Director of Engineering also provides services to other facilities that may need expertise on said field.
Primary Responsibilities
Plant Maintenance Management
Leads and manages the big manufacturing sites in the effective and efficient performance of all production equipment through daily management systems and problem solving/loss elimination
Strategizes, plans and implements plant maintenance systems, including preventive maintenance systems, and engineering processes for the different plants. Monitors these systems for effectiveness
Provides resources, build technical capabilities, and budget accountability to support equipment availability and reliability
Assesses, analyzes and acts to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and manage cost implications of major changes affecting maintenance systems
Ensures seamless execution of maintenance through communication and collaboration to Manufacturing, Site Logistics, Quality Assurance and other support units
Develop standards/best practices and ensures the sites follow the standards
Accountable for the performance of production equipment of the big sites, with total asset value of more than P3 Billion
Develop, deploy and maintain Plant Masterplan to support the long term business requirements
Ensures alignment and seamless collaboration with Manufacturing on Autonomous Maintenance journey
Utilities Operations Management
Leads and owns the big commissary sites in the effective, efficient operation of utility systems through daily management systems and problem solving/loss elimination
Provides direction to the plants for the optimum and uninterrupted supply of all utility requirements: electricity, steam, air, water, including the efficient operation of the wastewater and water treatment plants
Ensures utility operations are compliant to Philippine laws and regulatory requirements. Ensures operation of plant utilities conforms with the set standards for product requirements of food and personnel safety
Leads the continuous improvements in engineering utilities operation
Assesses and analyzes overall utilities operation performance through DMS, PDCA, and Breakdown Elimination
Leads utilities operational excellence and cost savings initiatives
Ensures that plant utilities operation supports the plant resources sustainability initiatives
Develop, deploy and maintain Plant Masterplan to support the long term business requirements
Accountable for the performance of Utility systems of all the big sites, with total asset value of more than P3 Billion
Project Management
Leads project feasibility studies, conceptualization, scoping, planning, implementation and closing in the sites, insofar as utility and production equipment projects are concerned
Projects Risk Management & Mitigation and proper communication to stakeholders
Ensures seamless multifunctional execution of projects. Build rapport and teamwork with relevant departments and functions in the company
Builds project and start-up management capabilities within the team
Collaborates with Supply Chain Engineering Services on the projects for the plants and participates in its analysis, planning and execution
Ensures project success criteria are met
Cost Control & Management
Ensure that maintenance activities, utilities consumption and capital expenditures are within budget, and will provide the necessary return, as applicable
Ensures engineering resources and assets are efficiently and effectively utilized
Ensures operating expenditures are optimized
Monitors and controls procurement and services are in compliance with established company rules and governance guidelines
Reviews, controls, and prioritizes engineering capital expenses, and manages the operating expenses of the big sites. Reviews, and controls spares inventories for both production and utility equipment
Delivers continuous improvement/reduction on R&M cost, inventory and MTTR through the use of AM/PM/Work Process Improvement tools.
People Development
Ensures engineering teams are highly engaged. Team and key individual performances are monitored, and pro-active action is regularly taken. Builds the desired culture of the team
Ensures succession and development of direct reports. Build leadership and organizational skills
Continuously assesses and recommends improvements in engineering organizational structure to cope with developments in the site business needs.
Safety, Environment, Health and Product Quality Support
Role model and builds safety, environment and quality culture within the entire team
Leads continuous building and deployment of Safety, and Environmental Standards to avoid incidents and prevent recurrence
Initiates and recommends actions to address engineering concerns on safety, health, environment, and product quality
Ensures compliance to food safety guidelines and leads the function to identify initiatives to improve compliance to food safety within the unit
Compliance
Abides by Company Policies, Rules and Regulations on Discipline, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety, Quality Schemes, Safety and other related Company Policies being implemented
Position Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in any Engineering course
PRC licensed engineer preferably with professional license, TPM / AM / PM
At least five years' experience in any Manufacturing Industry of the same capacity
With background in ammonia refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilating system, electrical power, water, steam, compressed air supply system, wastewater & water treatment, and other rotating equipment operation and maintenance. Knowledge of TPM/AM/PM/Work Process Improvement/Project & Start-up Management
Expected to lead, introduce or recommend changes in policy or procedure or introduce new methods or products that would positively impact manufacturing operations
