As a member of the Assisted & Automated Driving Domain within JLR’s Digital Product Platform groups, you will interface with global internal engineering groups as well as external vendors to build up, commission and release development engineering assets. Working as part of a small team your contributions will have a direct impact on the realisation and release of the fleet of vehicles used to make product development goals a realisation for our customers.

We are seeking a talented Software Integration Engineer to join our automotive engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and integrating software solutions that connect a variety of embedded and enterprise-level software systems critical to modern vehicles. You will ensure seamless communication between in-vehicle ECUs, middleware, cloud services, and third-party platforms, supporting innovations in electric vehicles, ADAS, infotainment, and connected car technology.

What You Will Do

  • Embedded API & Middleware Development: Develop, maintain, and test automotive APIs and middleware to support data exchange between in-vehicle systems
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with hardware, software, validation, and IT teams, as well as external suppliers, to gather integration requirements and deliver technical solutions.
  • Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Monitor integration processes, analyze CAN, LIN, and Ethernet communication, and resolve issues to ensure system reliability and compliance with automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASPICE).
  • Linux Automotive Platforms: Support integration activities on automotive Linux distributions (e.g. QNX), including shell scripting, package management, and troubleshooting.
  • End-to-end mindset: Ensure features and functions operate correctly at vehicle level in collaboration with partner ECUs.

What You Will Need

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • Multiple years of experience in software/system integration in the automotive industry.
  • Strong experience with embedded automotive APIs, middleware, and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet), vehicle control systems (ADAS, Chassis, Powertrain), actuators and sensors.
  • Proficiency in debugging on embedded targets using tools such as Trace32, GDB, CANOE, CANAPE, CANalyzer, etc.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language used in automotive development (e.g., MATLAB/SIMULINK, C, C++).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Shell) and build systems (CMake, Make)
  • Solid understanding of Linux operating systems
  • Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle including quality engineering methods and tools
  • Significant experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Experience with Agile development in automotive projects.
  • Experience with cloud services or connected vehicle backends (AWS, Azure, etc.) is a plus.
  • Relevant industry certifications or training are an advantage, like advanced driving permits
