In this role, you’ll provide direct support to residents with their daily living needs and administer medications in accordance with state regulations and company policies. As a key member of our care team, you’ll help ensure each resident receives compassionate, high-quality care in a safe, respectful, and person-centered environment.

Location: The Patterson

Schedules

  • Day Shift: 6:30AM -12:30PM
  • Night Shift: 4:00PM - 10:00PM
  • PRN Float Pool (as-needed): Minimum of 3 shifts per month

Responsibilities

  • Administers prescribed medications to residents, ensuring resident safety
  • Tracks each resident’s medication with Point Click Care
  • Prepares, administers and documents medications when given.
  • Presents medication daily to verified residents and observes ingestion or other application, using specified procedures
  • Is knowledgeable of medications being administered and has the ability to explain the purpose of the drug to the resident.
  • Takes vital signs, weights, blood glucose and is knowledgeable of correct facility policies and procedures to collect data, normal ranges and what to report to the nurse.
  • Takes vital signs of observes patient to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated staff of unexpected reactions.
  • Administers prescribed treatments to intact skin daily.
  • Assists residents in their activities of daily living tasks as needed and directed. This could include bathing, grooming, personal and dental hygiene, transportation to meals and activities, bowel and bladder functions (e.g., take to bathroom, portable commode, change incontinency products, etc.), shaving dressing, hair care, and laundry talks. All tasks and duties as described or documented in the resident’s service plan.
  • Serves and protects the community by adhering to professional standards, community policies and procedures, state and local requirements.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in education opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations and maintaining certification/licensure.
  • Maintains a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents and guests, following established safety standards.
  • Adheres to all mandated reporting requirements and communicates concerns to person in charge.
  • Embraces the company Always Behaviors each and every day as we serve our clients, colleagues, and community.
  • We work as one nursing department. All staff are expected to float between assisted living and memory care when needed.
  • All other duties as assigned and/or appropriate to the position.

Qualifications

Education: High School or GED

Licenses or other required certifications: Active Medication Aide certification through the Ohio Board of Nursing. CPR certification a plus

Experience: At least 2 year’s experience working in a direct care role within a nursing facility

Specialized Knowledge, Skills, Or Abilities

  • Knowledge of pharmacology and basic nursing
  • Ability to provide education on medications being administered to residents
  • Ability to work under pressure and relate well with the residents.
  • Excellent bedside manner
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with an electronic health record system, Point Click Care experience preferred.
  • Required to complete Dementia Care training
