Job Summary

The Gilbert S. Omenn Department of Computational and Bioinformatics is seeking a Research Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Naoki Masuda. This postdoctoral position provides computational research capacity within DCMB to execute a research program at the interface of genomics, network science, and behavioral data modeling relevant to gene expression and disease early warning. The postdoc will perform directed research to achieve the objectives of the project, specifically: (i) deploy network analysis methods to genomic co-expression data (70%), and (ii) develop early warning signals for disease conditions including psychiatric disorders using differential equations (30%).

Responsibilities*

• Accelerated progress on funded research aims through sustained, specialized effort that cannot be met by short-term or fractional support.
• Development of reproducible analytical pipelines and computational methods that can be shared with, adapted by, and disseminated across other Michigan Medicine research teams.
• Scholarly manuscripts, conference presentations, and open-source code/methods.
  
  
  

Required Qualifications*

Ph.D. in a quantitative or computational field such as Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Biostatistics or a closely related field.

Modes of Work

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
