Job Summary

This Client is seeking a high-calibre, offshore Senior Accountant / Commercial Finance Officer based in the Philippines. This full-time role owns the day-to-day accounting function and provides critical financial visibility to support management decision-making.

Primary Purpose Of The Role

  • Full-Function Accounting: Take ownership of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), debtor collections, bank/credit card reconciliations, and batch payment preparation.
  • Commercial Analysis & Reporting: Produce weekly cash-flow forecasts, management dashboards, risk assessments, and job/project profitability (margin/cost) reviews.
  • Month-End Support: Assist with month-end finance administration and the preparation of management accounts.
  • Process Optimization: Drive efficiency and improve financial visibility by optimizing internal accounting workflows.
  • Experience: Strong, proven experience working with Australian businesses and familiarity with AU financial nuances.
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in Xero is essential. (Note: Salesforce experience is not required)
  • Communication: Exceptional written and spoken English, with the commercial confidence to interface directly with management, suppliers, clients, and internal staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable (AP): End-to-end management from invoice entry, 3-way matching, coding, and query resolution to supplier reconciliation.
  • Accounts Receivable (AR): Client invoicing, allocation of receipts, firm/professional debtor collection, and proactive management of aged receivables.
  • Cash Control & Payments: Preparation of mid- and end-of-month batch payments 3+ days in advance with comprehensive cash-impact summaries.
  • Forecasting & Reporting: Maintenance of weekly rolling cash-flow forecasts, variance analyses, and weekly management dashboards (tracking margins, cost overruns, and profitability trends).
  • Month-End Support: Core reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, and supplier statements by the end of week 1, alongside variance notes for management accounts.

Required Experience (Non-Negotiable)

  • Total Experience: 3–5 years in accounting/finance support.
  • Australian Market Experience: At least 2 years supporting an Australian business with a strong understanding of AU business processes and GST coding.
  • Technical Stack: Strong, hands-on experience using Xero and Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel (for building finance models/dashboards).
  • Core Competencies: Proven history in full-function AP/AR, bank/credit card reconciliations, batch payments, cash-flow forecasting, and commercial collections

Preferred Experience (Nice To Have)

  • Industry Background: Prior experience in Australian manufacturing, construction, engineering, industrial, equipment hire, or project-based sectors.
  • Project Accounting: Experience with job costing, project profitability, or margin reporting.
  • BPO Experience: Previous background working within an offshore support or BPO environment.

Core Skills & Soft Attributes

  • Commercial Acumen: Understands how cash flow, margins, and timing impact business decisions; provides concise commentary rather than just raw data.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal English, with the confidence to independently liaise with management, external clients, and AU suppliers.
  • Autonomy: Highly proactive and organized, capable of managing tight recurring deadlines remotely without being chased.
