About the Client
Our client is an Australian accounting and advisory firm providing a range of services including audit, taxation, business advisory, and financial services to businesses and individuals. The firm works with clients across various industries, combining local expertise with the resources and broader capabilities of the PKF global network.

The Role
This role supports the firms external audit function by managing financial statement audits from planning through completion, supervising junior staff, and acting as a direct point of contact for clients. The hire will work primarily on Australian and/or New Zealand engagements, applying local audit methodology and IFRS/AU-equivalent standards, and is expected to operate with minimal oversight on day-to-day engagement execution.

What Youll Do

  • Plan, execute, and complete external audit engagements end-to-end, including risk identification, audit strategy, timetabling, and budget management

  • Supervise and review the work of junior auditors and associates, providing coaching and clearing review points in a timely manner

  • Liaise directly with clients and third parties, building long-term working relationships across engagements

  • Monitor engagement progress, budget, and timelines, flagging risks or delays to the Manager/Partner early

  • Ensure audit files and deliverables comply with firm methodology and applicable standards (IFRS or local equivalent)

  • Apply data analytics tools and audit software (e.g. Caseware, Canvas) to support fieldwork and review

  • Work within client accounting systems, including Xero and MYOB, to review and substantiate financial data

  • Identify and raise opportunities for audit efficiency or process improvement to Managers/Partners

What Were Looking For

  • 5+ years of external audit experience, including experience managing multiple engagements simultaneously

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent local certification

  • Proven experience supervising and reviewing the work of junior team members

  • Working knowledge of IFRS and audit methodology; experience on AU/NZ client engagements preferred

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with experience liaising directly with overseas clients

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and audit software (Caseware, Canvas, or equivalent)

  • Working knowledge of Xero and/or MYOB, or the ability to pick up client-side accounting systems quickly

Nice to Have

  • Exposure across multiple industries (e.g. healthcare, retail, technology, logistics, pharmaceutical, NFP)

  • Experience at a Big 4 or mid-tier firm (e.g. EY, Grant Thornton/P&A, Crowe, Findex)

  • Prior experience in an offshore/outsourced delivery model supporting an onshore team

Why This Role

This role offers the opportunity to work with an established Australian accounting and advisory firm while gaining hands-on experience across a diverse portfolio of clients.
