Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented Xero Bookkeeper to handle both the setup and ongoing management of Xero for a growing software company. This role will focus on consolidating and organizing financial records from a previous company, maintaining accurate books, and supporting multiple client onboardings each month. The ideal candidate has strong Xero expertise, experience with cleanup work, and a high level of accuracy in financial categorization.


Job Highlights

Number of Paid Hours Per Week: Monday–Friday; flexible schedule within client business hours, after 12pm EST (15 hours per week).

Responsibilities

  • Set up Xero and manage ongoing Xero bookkeeping
  • Consolidate and organize financial files from the previous company
  • Manage ongoing bookkeeping in Xero for a software company with 3–5 monthly client onboardings
  • Clean up and accurately categorize historical financial data from bank statements
  • Process standard monthly payments and credit card transactions
  • Resolve invoicing issues, including overpayments and currency conversion discrepancies
  • Create and maintain spreadsheet templates for financial categorization
  • Manage bookkeeping across multiple company entities using the same accounting platform


Requirements

  • Proven experience using Xero bookkeeping software (critical)
  • Demonstrated experience performing cleanup work and organizing historical financial data
  • Solid understanding of invoicing workflows and payment reconciliation
  • Ability to work with Canadian currency and manage currency conversion issues
  • Experience working with software or technology companies is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate categorization of expenses and revenue


Side Note

Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an Independent Contractor, selected candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection. Contractors are responsible for their own benefits and taxes. Professional fees are hourly and depend on performance during the application process.
