U S Tax Preparation Associate

We’re looking for a detail-driven tax preparer with hands-on U.S. tax experience.

Job Highlights:

• Paid Hours per Week: 40
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Houston, TX
• Work Arrangement: Work from home
• Contract: Independent Contractor

Side note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and an “Independent Contractor” arrangement, the candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepare individual and small business tax returns (Forms 1040, Schedule C, basic K-1 exposure preferred)
• Organize and review client tax documents for completeness and accuracy
• Enter tax data into tax preparation software and flag missing or questionable items
• Assist with tax return amendments, extensions, and basic compliance filings
• Adhere to the Client’s established tax preparation standards and SOPs
• Communicate internally with CPAs and client associates regarding open items and questions
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to IRS and firm compliance standards

Preferred Experience & Skills:

• 1–3 years of tax preparation experience (U.S. tax experience required)
• Familiarity with individual and small business tax concepts
• Experience with tax software (Drake, ProConnect, UltraTax, or similar preferred)

Nice to Have (Not Required):

• Experience with multi-state returns
• Exposure to bookkeeping or reviewing financial statements
• Prior experience working with a CPA firm
