We are seeking Technical Team Leads to oversee quality and delivery for our application-level products. In this position, you will guide a small engineering team of 3-5 people who create educational applications serving thousands of students.

This position balances two responsibilities equally: 50% directly implementing sophisticated features, and 50% mentoring and supporting your engineering team. Your role includes defining quality expectations, creating technical patterns, conducting code reviews with educational intent, and fostering engineer development. Team success falls under your accountability, extending beyond individual contributions.
You will work in a compact, high-autonomy environment with minimal administrative overhead. Technical leadership is your domain; people management functions are handled separately.
What You Will Be Doing
- Implementing sophisticated features that establish technical patterns for the team
- Conducting PR reviews with comprehensive, instructional feedback
- Mentoring engineers using pairing sessions and targeted guidance
- Managing technical coordination and decomposing project requirements
- Defining quality benchmarks and verifying team adherence
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Handling personnel management (recruitment, termination, performance evaluations, career development discussions)
- Developing platform or infrastructure-level systems
- Attending excessive meeting schedules
- Designing architecture in isolation from hands-on development
Basic Requirements
Technical Team Lead key responsibilities
- Minimum 5 years of full-stack development experience
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership capacity (conducting code reviews, mentoring developers, defining team standards)
- Proven history of delivering SaaS products
- Practical experience integrating AI tools into development processes
- Verified capability in supporting engineer skill development and advancement

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
