Job Highlights

• Schedule: Monday - Friday, Flexible within clients business hours | Pacific Time/ Eastern Time

Side note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and an “Independent Contractor” arrangement, the candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.

Responsibilities

• Perform sophisticated bank reconciliations and transaction analysis, going beyond simple data entry to understand the story behind each transaction
• Analyze complex financial transactions such as merchant services deposits, identifying revenue components, fees, and proper accounting treatment
• Proactively communicate with clients and service representatives to obtain necessary supporting documentation and clarify transaction details
• Ensure all accounting entries properly reflect balance sheet impacts and maintain financial statement accuracy
• Apply accrual accounting principles across diverse client engagements spanning multiple industries and countries
• Collaborate seamlessly within the company’s modern technology ecosystem including Slack, Dropbox, and other integrated cloud-based applications
• Work effectively with team members across different time zones and geographic locations, contributing to a truly global operation

Requirements

• Strong foundation in balance sheet accounting and comprehensive understanding of accrual accounting principles
• Analytical mindset that goes beyond basic data entry - ability to ask critical questions about transaction components and identify discrepancies
• Proven experience with bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and month-end closing processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for professional client interaction and seamless internal collaboration
• Proficiency with accounting software and cloud-based collaboration tools, with adaptability to learn new systems quickly
• Detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Self-motivated professional who thrives in a performance-based environment and can work independently while being part of an integrated team structure
• Comfort working in a distributed, remote team environment across multiple time zones
• We require the use of a project management system (we use Asana). We use stand-up style 2x per week, along with daily status updates in Slack.
