Sports Video Analyst Match Coding

Job Overview

Our client is looking for detail-oriented and sports-passionate individuals to join their team as Sports Video Analyst (Match Coding). In this role, you will review Australian Rules Football (AFL) match footage and accurately tag key match events using proprietary video analysis software. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with an interest in sports analytics, performance analysis, statistics, or video annotation. Previous AFL knowledge is preferred but not essential, as comprehensive training, coding guides, and sample footage will be provided. The role is primarily project-based, with work available on a per-match basis throughout the Australian football season.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, Flexible schedule during client business hours (20 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

• Watch full Australian Rules Football match footage and accurately code key match events.
• Tag core actions including kicks, handballs, marks, tackles, clearances, inside/rebound 50s, goals, and behinds.
• Follow detailed coding guidelines, operational frameworks, and quality standards strictly.
• Maintain exceptional levels of accuracy and structural consistency across all coding assignments.
• Meet established turnaround deadlines for all completed match coding milestones.
• Continuously improve coding quality through regular training and active feedback integration.

Requirements

• Excellent attention to detail with a strong, demonstrable focus on data accuracy.
• Professional written and reading comprehension skills in the English language.
• Reliable high-speed internet connection and a computer capable of handling video playback software.
• Strong interest in sports alongside a willingness to learn AFL rules and terminology.
• Ability to follow detailed operational instructions and standardized coding procedures.
• Availability to work weekends and early-week Australian time during the active football season.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Training

Successful candidates will receive:

• Labeled Australian Rules Football coding training and comprehensive video coding guidelines.
• Practice match footage profiles and ongoing feedback loops to ensure coding consistency.
