Overview:

The Legal Assistant supports the preparation, drafting, and completion of immigration case packets for our office. This position requires a high level of accuracy, excellent communication abilities, strong organizational skills, and consistent application of internal procedures. The Legal Assistant works closely with attorneys, the intake team, the lead paralegal, and clients to ensure timely, complete, and high-quality filings. This role also involves managing confidential client information with discretion and professionalism at all times.


Job Highlights:

  • Hourly Rate: USD 5.35, the equivalent in your local currency
  • Paid Hours per Week: 40
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time
  • Work Arrangement: Work from home
  • Contract: Independent Contractor

Side note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and an “Independent Contractor” arrangement, the candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.


Main Responsibilities :

  • Prepare immigration application packets electronically and ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper formatting.
  • Conduct client meetings to gather required information for forms and declarations.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to complete packet reviews and implement revisions as directed.
  • Follow up with clients to obtain missing documents, signatures, and required evidence.
  • Perform internal quality checks to ensure packets meet procedural standards before submission.
  • Assist in updating and correcting client declarations based on attorney review.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with clients through approved communication channels.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify case issues and escalate when appropriate.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information in accordance with legal and organizational requirements.
  • Use the firm’s technology platforms, including 8amMyCase, for case management, documentation, and workflow tracking.
  • Work independently, manage tasks effectively, and meet deadlines consistently.


Qualifications :

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Prior experience as a legal assistant with demonstrated exposure to immigration law preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet submission deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency using case management software, including 8amMyCase or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
