About The Role
The Operations Software Developer creates, enhances, and maintains business applications and supports study configuration activity to meet business needs through a structured SDLC. This role partners closely with Global Project Management and Solutions teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality outcomes aligned to quality targets and SLAs. The Engineer works to best practices, internal processes, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable global regulations, with a focus on producing robust, well-documented, and testable code.
What You Will Do
- Work with Global Project Management and Solutions teams to understand business requirements for assigned tasks
- Develop and maintain application components (under supervision as needed)
- Support verification and testing phases by diagnosing issues and resolving defects efficiently
- Collaborate with Delivery Managers/Leads to keep work on track and deliver to timelines
- Coordinate with the engineering team to align on design patterns, standards, customizations, and capacity planning
- Follow coding standards and produce robust, well-documented code
- Design, create, and modify database objects as required
- Complete unit testing, create documentation, and execute peer reviews as required
- Adhere to source control, versioning best practices, and operational processes when executing study configuration tasks
- Provide regular status updates to internal (and where applicable external) stakeholders
- Request requirements and design clarifications proactively when necessary
- Contribute to continuous improvement through iterative process enhancements
Site Support Responsibilities (Rater Station only, as required):
- Perform general site support related to study configurations in the field
- Diagnose and resolve defects as part of general site support
- Prepare/confirm required change control documentation, including updates to design and technical documents
- Deploy resolutions to testing and production environments as required
Quality System Responsibilities:
- Perform all work following documented SOPs and working instructions
- Adhere to GCP, 21 CFR Part 11, and other regulatory requirements as required
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–3 years of professional software development experience
- Detailed knowledge of software development processes and practices
- Programming experience in any language (strong fundamentals)
- Knowledge of application development, configuration, and support
- Ability to work independently and resourcefully toward quality, high-performance solutions
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment to escalate when necessary
- Ability to provide concise, accurate feedback on progress and outcomes
- Ability to work in a team environment and provide backup support to team members
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to comprehend business requirements
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across teams
Desired Qualifications
Specific to IRT and Rater Station products:
- Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Server Reporting Services; T-SQL
- Microsoft Visual Studio IDE; ASP.NET MVC; C# with LINQ
- Web code and data standards: HTML, JavaScript, XML, JSON, REST
Additional desirable experience:
- Agile / Scrum methodologies
- Atlassian tools (Bitbucket, Confluence, JIRA, X-ray, Jira Service Manager)
- Source control tools (TFS, Bitbucket, or other Git-based tools)
- Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and/or additional SSRS experience
- Microsoft Azure, Cosmos DB, Kubernetes
- REST APIs
- Experience leading design/development efforts on assigned projects
- Experience estimating effort for development and support tasks
- Willingness to share knowledge and lessons learned with others
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Familiarity with GCP and 21 CFR Part 11
- Familiarity with defect tracking software
