Social Media Marketing Associate

Overview

We are seeking a proactive, remote Social Media Marketing Associate to manage our social media presence and weekly email campaigns for our collection of gift and souvenir shops in Colorado. In this role, you will create engaging content that captures the spirit of Colorado for winter skiers and summer travelers while driving measurable growth across digital channels. This independent contractor position is perfect for a creative self-starter dedicated to building community and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Schedule:

• Mon-Fri, flexible during business hours, PST timezone (20 hours per week)

Responsibilities

Social Media Management (60% of role)

• Strategy Development: Create and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with business goals
• Content Creation & Editing: Write, edit, and schedule compelling posts across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
• Community Engagement: Monitor, respond to, and engage with followers and comments in a timely manner
• Growth & Analytics: Implement growth strategies to increase followers, engagement, and conversions; track and report on key metrics
• Content Calendar Management: Plan and maintain a monthly content calendar with a consistent posting schedule
• Trend Monitoring: Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, and best practices

Email Marketing (40% of role)

• Campaign Execution: Design, write, and send weekly email campaigns to our subscriber list
• Platform Management: Manage email campaigns in Square (current platform) or recommend and implement superior alternatives
• List Management: Segment audiences, maintain clean contact lists, and grow subscriber base
• Performance Analysis: Track open rates, click-through rates, conversions, and provide insights for optimization
• A/B Testing: Test subject lines, content, and send times to improve email performance
• Automation: Set up automated email sequences (welcome series, abandoned cart, follow-ups, etc.)

Requirements

Experience & Skills

• 2+ years of hands-on experience managing social media accounts for businesses (portfolio or case studies required; APPLICATIONS WITH PORTFOLIOS WILL BE PRIORITIZED)
• 1+ years of email marketing experience, preferably with Square or similar platforms (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, ConvertKit, etc.)
• Experience in podcast posting and editing
• Proven track record of growing social media accounts and increasing engagement
• Strong copywriting and editing skills with excellent grammar and attention to detail
• Experience with social media scheduling tools (Later, Hootsuite, Buffer, Meta Business Suite, etc.)
• Proficiency in basic graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Express, or similar)
• Understanding of social media analytics and email marketing metrics

Nice to have

• Experience in retail/e-commerce
• Knowledge of paid social media advertising (Meta Ads, Instagram Ads)
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (Shopify & Square)
• Familiarity with Slack and Asana and analytics platforms
• Experience with user-generated content (UGC) campaigns
• Understanding of SEO and content marketing principles
