About the Role:

We are looking for an SMSF Audit Assistant to join our clients team. theircompany already has a lead Registered SMSF Auditor; we are seeking a capable professional to assist the staff by managing the audit workflow, preparing workpapers, and ensuring all compliance checks are completed to a high standard.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the technical detail of SMSF auditing and wants to work in a stable, supportive environment without the pressure of being the final signatory.

Job Highlights:

• Hourly Rate: USD 5.75, the equivalent in your local currency
• Paid Hours per Week: 40
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 PM - 5:00 PM AWST (Same as Manila Time)
• Work Arrangement: Work from home
• Contract: Independent Contractor

Side note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and an “Independent Contractor” arrangement, the candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Audit Support: Assist the Lead Auditor in the end-to-end audit process for a diverse SMSF portfolio.
• Workpaper Preparation: Build and maintain high-quality electronic audit workpapers.
• Compliance Testing: Perform substantive testing on contributions, pension payments, and investment valuations to ensure SISA/SISR compliance.
• Queries: Communicate with the accounting team to gather missing documentation and resolve audit queries.
• Drafting: Prepare draft audit reports and management letters for the lead auditor’s final review and sign-off.

What We Are Looking For:

• Experience: 2+ years in SMSF auditing or SMSF-specific accounting/administration.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of SMSF regulations and audit standards.
• Qualifications: Degree in Accounting or a related field. CPA/CA is preferred but not essential.
• Registration: You do not need to be an ASIC Registered SMSF Auditor for this role.
• Skills: High attention to detail and proficiency in SMSF software (e.g., Class, BGL, or Cloudoffis).
