Were hiring an experienced Shopify Growth Engineer to take ownership of our storefront and create a high-performing user experience.

About the Role

This is a high-impact independent contractor opportunity. You will be the sole technical strategist, owning the entire technical stack and driving e-commerce growth. You will be the sole technical strategist, responsible for transforming our website into a high-converting, performant growth engine. This involves taking ambitious tests and features from concept to deployment, working directly with the executive team, and utilizing the latest AI tools to accelerate development. You will also collaborate closely with the brand design team to translate high-fidelity designs into pixel-perfect, scalable site implementations. You are a growth-minded full-stack owner who understands how site performance, elegant UX, and aggressive A/B testing directly translate into revenue. You must be comfortable moving with speed and translating business goals into production-ready "Version 1" solutions.

What Youll Do

• Maintain and architect our Shopify Plus environment (Broadcast theme) and tech stack, ensuring high performance and clean, maintainable architecture.
• Use AI coding agents (Cursor, Claude, Gemini) to plan, debug, and accelerate development. We view AI as a force multiplier and expect you to use it to ship faster.
• Take strategic direction and build initial page designs using our theme and UI/UX best practices, refining them directly in Shopify.
• Develop and execute a Conversion Rate Optimization testing roadmap. You will build the tests, ensure technical tracking is accurate, and implement winning variations permanently. You must be comfortable using Shoplift or similar A/B testing Shopify apps. 
• Ensure the technical health and seamless integration of third-party apps, including Klaviyo, GA4, Google Search Console, Okendo, and other tools. 
• Be the technical owner of SEO / AEO, ensuring site structure, speed, and schema markup are optimized for discovery and ranking – especially in LLMs.
• Work directly with the Exec team to define the technical roadmap, balancing quick wins with long-term infrastructure improvements.

Who You Are

• This is an Independent Contractor position, and the contractor is solely responsible for all local taxes, social security, and labor compliance in the country of residence.. No employee benefits (e.g. Health insurance, paid time off) are provided. 
• Web Developer with 4+ years of deep experience with Liquid, Shopify CLI, Storefront API, and modern theme architecture.
• A self-starter who thrives in a fast-moving environment and is comfortable being the sole technical owner on the team.
• You use AI tools daily to unblock yourself and speed up execution.
• You possess strong UI/UX instincts and can translate a rough concept into a polished, trustworthy interface without needing a designer.
• Fluent English (C1/C2) with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders."
• You are available to collaborate during business hours (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm US Central Time).
