You’ll play a crucial role in supporting a dynamic accounting practice that’s transforming how they serve clients. You’ll work directly with firm leadership to streamline operations, develop processes, and support both high-value clients and the firm’s scaling initiatives. Job Highlights

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week); California business hours with some flexibility

Work Arrangement: Work from home

Contract: Independent Contractor

Side note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and an “Independent Contractor” arrangement, the candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates, and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.


Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive bank reconciliations and maintain fully posted books across multiple client industries
  • Prepare detailed journal entries, accruals, and adjustments with precision and accuracy
  • Create work papers that tie seamlessly to tax returns for compliance and audit readiness
  • Handle complex project accounting across diverse client portfolios
  • Support tax preparation and compliance processes using professional tax software
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve firm efficiency
  • Assist with internal KPI tracking and firm management processes for strategic growth
  • Collaborate on training and mentoring future team members as the firm scales
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance client service delivery


Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in accounting and bookkeeping
  • Strong expertise with US accounting principles and tax regulations
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO) for comprehensive bookkeeping tasks
  • Experience with professional tax software (CCH experience preferred)
  • Previous experience working with US-based accounting firms or clients
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to create accurate, audit-ready work papers
  • Bonus if you have experience with firm management software (TaxDome a plus)
  • It helps if you have multi-state tax filing and compliance calendar experience
