Job Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Compensation: $2,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement


Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: With a strong footprint across Australia’s eastern states, this long-established commercial services provider is known for delivering high-quality building maintenance and refurbishment solutions. Their clients range from major corporations to government agencies, and their projects span everything from reactive maintenance and insurance repairs to large-scale facility upgrades


Role Overview: We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong HVAC expertise to lead the design and implementation of mechanical systems for a variety of projects. The ideal candidate can work independently, manage complex tasks in existing buildings, and deliver practical solutions for DHW/HHW systems, electrification projects, and tenancy fitouts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently design, analyze, and optimize HVAC systems for various projects.
  • Size Domestic Hot Water (DHW) and Heating Hot Water (HHW) systems.
  • Support electrification projects and system upgrades.
  • Assist with tenancy fitout works, including redesigning AHU systems to accommodate new layouts.
  • Work on projects within existing buildings, coordinating staging and minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.
  • Prepare technical drawings, schematics, and tender documentation using AutoCAD.
  • Perform heat load calculations using relevant software (Carrier E20-II knowledge preferred).
  • Write clear and concise technical reports.
  • Ensure all designs comply with NCC, AS1668.2, and where applicable, AS 3500 standards.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer with a focus on HVAC systems.
  • Strong knowledge of DHW/HHW system sizing and electrification projects.
  • Experience with tenancy fitouts and redesign of AHU systems.
  • Ability to work on existing buildings and manage staging around functional systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and drafting of mechanical schematics.
  • Experience with heat load calculation programs (Carrier E20-II preferred).
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Familiarity with NCC and AS1668.2 (mandatory); AS 3500 (preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving and independent working capabilities.
