Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced QuickBooks Online Bookkeeper to support a growing portfolio of small business clients. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing monthly reconciliations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring all bookkeeping is completed accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate has strong experience with QuickBooks Online, excellent organizational skills, and a background supporting real estate and/or construction businesses. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated bookkeeping professional who thrives in a remote environment and enjoys managing multiple client accounts.


Schedule:

  • Remote | 20 Hours per Week (Potential to Transition to Full-Time) | Client Time-zone: Gaithersburg, MD


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records for multiple small business clients.
  • Download bank statements and process monthly bank reconciliations using QuickBooks Online.
  • Record, categorize, and reconcile financial transactions for real estate and construction-related businesses.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and ensure all transactions are properly classified.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and supporting schedules.
  • Organize financial records to support tax planning, compliance, and advisory services.
  • Communicate professionally with clients to request missing documentation and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Ensure all bookkeeping files are reconciled and current prior to tax planning and filing deadlines.
  • Assist with onboarding new clients into QuickBooks Online.
  • Follow documented bookkeeping procedures and Loom training materials.
  • Work collaboratively with the accounting team to ensure books remain audit-ready.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive financial information.
  • Work within BruntWork's Secure Remote Worker environment to ensure compliance with security and data protection standards.


Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper supporting multiple business clients.
  • Experience working with real estate, construction, or similar industries.
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong understanding of: Bank reconciliations, General ledger maintenance, Financial reporting, Transaction categorization, Bank feeds.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously.
  • Strong written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable internet connection and suitable remote work environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting CPA firms or accounting practices.
  • Familiarity with month-end closing processes.
  • Experience onboarding companies into QuickBooks Online.
  • Understanding of tax preparation workflows and bookkeeping best practices.
  • Experience working remotely with documented SOPs and video-based training.
