Job Description

Propeller is on a mission to take the guesswork out of moving dirt - reducing wasted fuel, time, and money. We do this through the power of maps.

Our customers use Propeller’s integrated hardware and software products to capture accurate 3D versions of their worksites. With over 50,000 worksites worldwide using Propeller’s smart survey technology, we empower project teams to map, measure, and manage site activity.

Propeller empowers everyone to approach, own, and solve problems creatively. We’re data nerds who care about impact, honesty, and each other. We take pride in being a great place to work and are proud to be recognized as a Fast Company and BuiltIn Best Place to Work. You can learn more about us on Glassdoor.

Your Mission

As a QA Engineer at Propeller, you will build the safety net that allows our team to ship faster and with confidence. Your primary focus is to expand and maintain high-value automated test suites using modern scripting languages, ensuring our CI/CD pipelines provide fast, reliable feedback on every commit.

You will operate as a technical "All-Rounder" who understands that code is just one part of the puzzle. You will actively perform rigorous manual exploratory testing, create detailed documentation for test plans and releases, and research emerging industry trends to keep our quality practices sharp. You leverage your expertise to know exactly when to script a test and when to explore a complex user flow by hand.

The best part? You will act as a champion for quality throughout the entire software development lifecycle. You will partner with Product Managers, Designers, Subject Matter Experts and Stakeholders during the discovery phase to define clear acceptance criteria and plan for testability. You will own the quality of your features from planning to production, reducing manual toil for the team while ensuring our 3D mapping platform remains reliable for the customers who depend on it every day.

Your Skills

  • You have 1-2+ years of strong technical expertise in automation scripting using TypeScript, JavaScript or Python.
  • You have experience with CI/CD pipelines like GitHub Actions.
  • You demonstrate proficiency in modern automation frameworks like Playwright or Cypress.
  • You possess strong manual testing capabilities, specifically in structured functional, regression and exploratory testing techniques.
  • You possess strong debugging and root cause analysis skills to investigate test and build failures.
  • You have excellent technical writing skills for creating clear test plans, defect reports, and release notes.
  • You demonstrate strong research and analysis skills to identify and implement new quality tools.
  • You have strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills to define requirements and work with the wider product and engineering teams.

Nice to have

  • You have hands-on experience with mobile or web test automation tools.
  • You have exposure to geospatial data, 3D mapping, or the construction and mining industries.

Benefits

  • Employee share options
  • Annual professional development budget and leave
  • The opportunity to take part in our mentorship program
  • HMO gold medical insurance
  • Mental health resources
  • WFH equipment provided & monthly WFH allowance
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave policies
