Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Bookkeeper with a formal accounting background to join our client’s growing operation. This is not just a data-entry role; we need a professional who is extremely familiar with AppFolio and understands the "why" behind the numbers.

You will manage the complete financial lifecycle for a portfolio of owned properties, handling everything from inter-property transfers to complex reconciliations. This role is perfect for a finance professional who thrives on accuracy and is looking for a long-term opportunity to grow into a full-time position as the company expands.


Job Highlights

Hourly Rate: The equivalent of $11.00 USD per hour in the applicant’s local currency

Schedule: Part-time (20 hours a week), flexible schedule.

Potential for Full-time conversion after a few months based on performance.

Work Arrangement: Work from home

Contract: Independent Contractor


Side Note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an “Independent Contractor,” the selected candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.


Responsibilities

  • AppFolio Mastery: Execute all financial operations and maintain data integrity within the AppFolio platform.
  • Full-Cycle Bookkeeping: Manage and reconcile transactions across multiple corporate accounts and credit cards.
  • Fund Management: Process inter-property financial transfers and maintain meticulous records of internal movements.
  • AR/AP Management: Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and automated rent payment processing.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and lead month-end closing procedures for 50+ properties.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with the management team to refine and scale financial workflows.
  • Compliance: Ensure all records align with standard accounting principles and property management regulations.


Requirements

  • Expert AppFolio Proficiency (Required): You must have extensive, hands-on experience navigating and managing AppFolio.
  • Formal Accounting Background: A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a formal Bookkeeping certification is required.
  • US Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of US accounting principles and property management workflows.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Precision: An uncompromising eye for detail and high organizational standards.
  • Autonomy: Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Growth Mindset: Ability to adapt to a fast-scaling company and suggest process improvements.
