About The Opportunity
As a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst in Managed Services, you will serve as a pivotal leader within the Payroll Tax team, taking ownership of complex escalations, providing thought leadership, and driving innovative solutions that enhance accuracy and compliance. You will lead a pod of Payroll Tax Analysts, fostering efficiency, productivity, and consistent execution across the team.
In this role, you will review payroll tax audits, process tax adjustments, conduct employee-level tax audits, and assist with pre-funding requests while staying current on evolving payroll tax regulations. You will also play a key role in presenting insights, guiding best practices, and serving as a crucial point of contact for clients to ensure their employees are taxed correctly. Team and client success is measured in part by year-end accuracy, aiming for W-2C rates of less than 1% of total W-2s produced, reflecting our commitment to precision and exceptional service.
What You’ll Get To Do
- Respond to and resolve our customers inquiries via our CRM tool as outlined by our team’s guidelines.
- Assess customer health using our team’s defined process to ensure we mitigate any risk to our business.
- Employee Tax Payroll Accuracy: Review and thoroughly audit payroll commits to ensure employees are taxed appropriately.
- Payroll Tax Adjustments: Partner with customers and internal payroll teams to process payroll tax adjustments accurately.
- Wage X Rate Audit: Conduct monthly audits to ensure customers wages and rates are accurate.
- Pre-funding Requests for Tax Agencies: Assist customers with timely and accurate pre-funding requests for stock transactions.
- Monthly and Annual W-4 Form Exemptions: Review W-4 Form exemptions monthly to perform reasonability checks for customers employees.
- Tax and Compliance Changes: Stay up-to-date on tax and compliance changes and work with customers to ensure alignment.
- Quarter/Year-End Balancing: Perform quarterly and year-end audits to balance customers and employees’ taxes, preventing W-2Cs.
- Tax Code Fallouts: Review tax code fallouts weekly, work with customers to register accounts with applicable agencies, and reconcile any withheld deposits.
- Amendment Requests: Work with customers and internal partners to process amendments promptly.
- W-2/W-2C Forms: Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure W-2Cs are processed timely.
- Lock-in Letters: Process IRS Form 2808 (Lock-in Letters) promptly to ensure compliance with IRS specifications for withholding allowances.
- Leadership of Payroll Tax Analysts: Serve as the first point of contact for Payroll Tax Analysts, guiding them in their roles and responsibilities.
- Customer Escalations: Take the lead on customer calls to mitigate escalations, providing top-tier leadership and expertise.
- Best Practice Presentations: Deliver best practice and customer-specific presentations to clients and internal teams, demonstrating advanced knowledge and leadership. Ensure proactive communication within the team.
- Innovation and Strategy: Drive innovative solutions, align with business strategy, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement, embodying an open-minded approach and avoiding a "thats what weve always done" mentality.
- Knowledge Sharing: Actively share knowledge and expertise with seniors and the team to ensure we scale effectively.
- Leadership Projects: Help leadership with projects that are paramount to leading the team forward by showing initiation and completing the project.
Skills And Experience We Value
- 5+ years of experience in payroll tax, human resources, or payroll administration or relevant experience.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership and advanced problem-solving skills.
What Would Make You Really Stand Out
- FPC or CPP certification required within two years.
