Job Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist (Part-Time, Remote – Australia) to manage end-to-end payroll processing with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.

You’ll handle payroll reconciliations, journals, cross-charges, and ensure PAYG, payroll tax, and superannuation obligations are met in line with Australian legislation.

The ideal candidate has strong Australian payroll experience, knowledge of Fair Work and awards, and can work independently while meeting deadlines.

Experience with UKG or Payroll Metrix is a plus, along with the flexibility to support light admin or finance tasks if needed.


Job Highlights

Hourly Rate: The equivalent of $10.00 USD per hour in the applicant’s local currency

Schedule: Minimum 15 hours per week, can be worked over 2-3 days. Must be available to work on a Tuesday as this is the day pays are processed.

Work Arrangement: Work from home


Contract: Independent Contractor

Side Note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an “Independent Contractor,” the selected candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.


Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate payroll records

• End-to-end payroll preparation and processing

• Prepare payroll reconciliations, accruals and journals

• Process cross charges between employing entities

• Ensure PAYG tax, payroll tax and superannuation obligations are being met

• Respond to payroll queries

• Perform end of financial year payroll processes

• Support payroll audits

• Ensure payroll is compliant with Australian legislation and standards

• Undertake basic interpretation of awards & other industrial instruments within scope of knowledge


Required Experience & Skills

· Strong payroll experience essential

· Strong understanding of Australian payroll compliance obligations essential

· Basic knowledge of Fair Work, awards and other industrial instruments essential

· Intermediate computer skills & ability to learn new systems, experience with UKG & Payroll Metrix advantageous

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.

· High-level of accuracy and attention to detail

· Comfortable working in a part-time, remote setup


Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting small to medium-sized businesses
  • Ability to take on light admin or finance tasks if additional hours are required
