Job Description

The Logistics Officer is a critical role within any organization heavily reliant on the transportation and distribution of goods and resources. This position involves overseeing and managing all logistics operations to ensure efficient and effective transit of products. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and controlling the logistics processes from origin to consumption, optimizing costs while meeting customer service objectives. The Logistics Officer will work closely with the procurement, inventory, and supply chain teams to ensure the smooth and seamless coordination of all logistics activities. An ideal candidate for this role will be detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to develop and implement logistical plans to meet the strategic goals of the company.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the transportation and distribution of goods across various locations ensuring timely delivery.
  • Develop, implement and optimize logistical strategies to improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and carriers to ensure seamless logistical operations.
  • Manage and monitor inventory levels, ensuring an adequate supply of materials and products.
  • Analyze and evaluate logistical data and performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements within all logistical activities.
  • Prepare and track reports related to logistics performance, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Lead and supervise a team of logistics personnel, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Negotiate contracts and rates with transport and logistics service providers.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems and operations.
  • Implement and manage warehouse operations, ensuring accurate tracking of all shipments.
  • Assess and mitigate risks in logistics operations, ensuring continuity and resilience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a track record of closing deals.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and systems for efficient operations management.
  • Ability to analyze complex logistical data to drive strategic decision-making processes.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory and safety compliance standards in logistics.
