About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Australia (AU) Bookkeeper to support our growing Australian client base. This role is designed for an aspiring accounting professional who is eager to learn, grow, and build a long-term career in the Australian tax and accounting industry.

You will work closely with and lean on an experienced internal team (including senior bookkeepers and accountants) to ensure data integrity, maintain accurate ledgers, and provide essential support to ensure client files are audit-ready.


Work hours: Mondays - Fridays ; 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Philippine Time

Work set-up: Remote

Holiday Observance: Both Philippine Public Holidays and all Queensland (Australia) Public Holidays


What you’ll do

Financial Reconciliation & Data Integrity

  • Document Management: Assist in managing document flow via Hubdoc, ensuring every reconciled transaction in Xero is backed by source documentation
  • Ledger Maintenance: Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable (AP/AR) management by processing invoices and receipts with a high degree of accuracy to avoid duplicates.
  • Coding Assistance: Review and apply consistent account coding based on historical data to maintain ledger integrity.

Client Support & Communication

  • Query Drafting: Help clear uncoded statement lines by drafting queries for review, focusing on providing context such as Vendor, Amount, and Frequency
  • Proactive Learning: Identify missing information and collaborate with the internal training team to solve ledger discrepancies.

Compliance Support

  • GST & BAS Application: Develop a foundational understanding of Australian GST laws to apply correct tax codes to basic transactions and assist with Business Activity Statement (BAS) requirements.
  • Report Preparation: Assist in the preliminary preparation of BAS, IAS, TPAR, and Superannuation reports under the supervision of senior team members.


What You Bring

  • Experience: 1 to 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • AU Domain Knowledge: A strict minimum of 1 year of proven experience supporting an Australian client base, with fundamental exposure to BAS requirements
  • Education: Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Xero, Hubdoc, and Microsoft Excel
  • Preferred: Familiarity with FYI Docs or Xbert
  • Certifications: Possession of, or a willingness to obtain, Xero and AU Bookkeeping certifications (internal training resources and certification support will be provided)
  • Communication: Excellent written English with a professional, helpful tone, and the confidence to collaborate virtually with an international team
  • Mindset: A goal-oriented team player who is eager to absorb training, ask questions, and work effectively in a remote environment.
