Job Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive HR Compliance Lead to oversee workforce compliance, payroll, onboarding, and employee performance management. This role is critical in ensuring the workforce operates in line with Australian industrial awards, Fair Work requirements, and internal compliance standards within the aged care and disability services sector. You will lead a small compliance team while acting as the escalation point for complex worker matters, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and consistency across all HR processes.


Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Tullamarine, VIC, Australia), with a 30-minute paid break (37.5 hours work hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

Award & Payroll Compliance

  • Ensure accurate interpretation and application of Australian Awards (particularly SCHADS) and Fair Work regulations
  • Manage worker queries related to awards, remuneration, and performance matters
  • Monitor compliance risks and recommend process improvements
  • Support payroll-related compliance and escalation issues


Workforce Compliance & Credentials

  • Ensure all worker credentials (e.g., certificates, police checks) are collected, verified, current, and compliant
  • Proactively follow up on missing, expired, or incomplete documentation
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and audit trails
  • Identify and escalate high-risk compliance gaps


Contracts & Onboarding

  • Oversee employment contract issuance, updates, and variations
  • Ensure contracts align with award classifications and pay structures
  • Manage onboarding processes and compliance checks
  • Resolve onboarding delays and documentation issues
  • Continuously improve onboarding workflows to ensure smooth worker commencement


Worker Performance & Conduct Management

  • Manage performance concerns, conduct issues, and behavioral matters
  • Support managers with performance improvement plans (PIPs)
  • Lead investigations into complaints, incidents, or breaches
  • Facilitate fair and professional complaint resolution
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with Fair Work and legal standards


Team Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and support a team of Compliance Officers
  • Manage daily workloads and actively participate in task execution
  • Provide training, coaching, and ongoing guidance
  • Monitor team KPIs and turnaround times
  • Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement


Requirements

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of Australian Awards (SCHADS or similar health-related awards)
  • Proven experience in HR, workforce compliance, or similar roles
  • Solid understanding of the Fair Work Act and employment legislation
  • Experience handling worker performance and conduct matters
  • Experience leading or supervising a small team


Nice to Have

  • Experience in NDIS, Home Care, Aged Care, Disability, or Community Services
  • Tertiary qualification in HR, Business, or a related field

  • This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
