Job Description

Propeller is on a mission to take the guesswork out of moving dirt - reducing wasted fuel, time, and money. We do this through the power of maps.

Our customers use Propeller’s integrated hardware and software products to capture accurate 3D versions of their worksites using drones. With over 50,000 worksites worldwide using Propeller’s smart survey technology, we empower project teams to map, measure, and manage site activity.

Propeller empowers everyone to approach, own, and solve problems creatively. We’re data nerds who care about impact, honesty, and each other. We take pride in being a great place to work and are proud to be recognized as a Fast Company and BuiltIn Best Place to Work. You can learn more about us on Glassdoor.

Interested in an internship opportunity?

Every day, our Geospatial Specialists process hundreds of drone surveys from our customers. In this program, you’ll get to work alongside them to learn how construction sites, mines, aggregates, and landfills get the most out of their survey data using Propeller.

This is a hands-on program where you’ll put into practice what you’re learning at University, and gain exposure to new technical concepts and applications. Youll explore first hand how Propeller synthesizes various geospatial technology (photogrammetry, GNSS, LiDAR) while you observe and assist our team with processing real client data!

What does a Geospatial Solutions Intern do?

You and potentially a small group of interns will join Propeller as we support our customers to make smart decisions on their worksites.

Here are some of the tasks youll be responsible for:

  • Learn about UAV-survey terms and best practices
  • Learn how Propeller produces actionable spatial information for our customers from their data
  • Learn about Propellers web-based GIS platform and the common ways our customers use it in a diverse range of industries
  • Process survey data for our customers
    • Learn how we troubleshoot photogrammetry and PPK data
    • Learn backend and frontend processing in Propeller
  • You’ll also have the opportunity to tackle a real-world problem that you’re passionate about! At the end of the program, you’ll present your findings to the Geospatial Solutions Team (including many fellow alumni with degrees in GIS-related fields) and to senior leadership.
At The End Of The Internship Program, You Will

  • Have real experience processing actual photogrammetry data from our clients in the construction, mining, and other industries.
  • Be familiar with the Propeller processing workflow.
  • Experience the unique culture we have in Propeller.

Whats in it for me?

We think this program is for you if youre an enthusiastic and committed student who:

  • is excited about cool technology like drone surveying.
  • asks lots of questions and wants to learn .
  • enjoys trying new things and “having a go”.
  • is studying a GIS-related degree, in your final or penultimate year at University.
  • enjoys working in a team, but is able to stay self-motivated in a remote working environment.
  • has a helpful, can-do attitude.

A Few Things To Note

  • Propellers internship program will run from June to July 2026 for a total of 150 hours.
  • In order to take part in the internship program, youll need to have your own laptop. Spec requirements are a minimum Intel i3 machine or similar with 8GB RAM. Ideally, a Windows computer with Chrome installed, but other operating systems are also acceptable.
  • You must have a stable internet connection at home. You need to be able to process data through a web-based application and to meet with your peers and mentors via video call.
  • This internship might not qualify for academic credits, but it still offers valuable learning experience and a potential opportunity to return for a full-time role, depending on business needs.
