Financial Operations Accountant

Job Description: You’ll be the financial architect for an exciting startup in the collectibles space, establishing accounting systems from scratch and ensuring compliance with international standards. This role offers the unique opportunity to build something meaningful from day one while working with a dedicated team that values expertise and growth. You’ll play a crucial role in setting up proper financial foundations and handling complex international requirements that will support the company’s expansion.

Job Highlights

• Hourly Rate: USD 6.75, the equivalent in your local currency
• Paid Hours per Week: 40
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm Van Nuys, CA. With a 30-minute paid break
• Work Arrangement: Work from home
• Contract: Independent Contractor

Side note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and an “Independent Contractor” arrangement, the candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and establish comprehensive accounting systems and processes from inception for a startup environment
• Handle international accounting requirements and compliance for US-China business operations
• Manage QuickBooks and integrate other relevant accounting software systems
• Answer complex accounting questions from international operations and provide strategic guidance
• Develop accounting best practices specifically for e-commerce and retail operations
• Handle inventory accounting for collectible toys, model kits, and high-value merchandise
• Ensure accurate financial record-keeping and reporting across multiple jurisdictions
• Support business growth through sound financial management and strategic insights
• Collaborate directly with business owners to optimize financial processes
• Provide guidance on startup accounting challenges and regulatory compliance

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an accountant with demonstrated ability to set up accounting systems from scratch
• Strong experience with international clients and cross-border accounting requirements
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software platforms
• Experience working with startups and growing businesses in dynamic environments
• Excellent English communication skills for direct client collaboration
• Bonus if you have e-commerce and retail industry experience
• It helps if you have inventory accounting experience, particularly with collectibles or merchandise
• CPA qualification is a plus but not required for the right candidate
