The Financial Controller leads our finance function and drives the firm’s financial performance. Reporting to the executive leadership team, this role is responsible for financial management, reporting, controls, and FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis).
Qualifications & Skills
• CPA designation required.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in financial management, with a focus on FP&A, accounting,
and operations.
• Knowledge and experience with Canadian or American accounting policies and procedures.
• Experience in multi-location businesses, professional services, or law firm accounting is an asset.
• Experience with intercompany accounting is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online is an asset.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively present financial data to non-financial
stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
• Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll,
reconciliations, and general ledger management.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with
GAAP.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations for select balance sheet accounts.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and banking relationships to ensure financial
stability.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, government audits, financial reviews, and corporate
filings.
• Lead and coordinate all financial and regulatory audits and/or reviews, ensuring requests are
addressed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Implement and maintain internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets.
• Responsible for the integrity of all financial information, records, and reporting processes
(master data integrity).
• Provide support to employees for ad-hoc requests and expense reports.
• Undertake additional projects, responsibilities and ad-hoc duties as assigned in support of X-
Copper’s operational and strategic objectives.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans to support business
growth.
• Conduct financial modeling and variance analysis to assess profitability, cost efficiencies, and
investment opportunities.
• Provide financial insights to support business decisions.
• Partner with leadership to identify cost-saving initiatives and revenue optimization strategies.
• Prepare financial dashboards and KPI reports to track performance and key business trends.
Operational & Strategic Support
• Work closely with department heads to streamline financial processes and improve operational
efficiency.
• Lead and coordinate external reviews and tax filings.
• Assess and implement technology solutions to improve financial reporting and analytics.
• Ensure financial compliance with provincial and federal laws related to legal services.
