Position Overview

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role partners closely with leadership to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and scalability as the organization grows.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close

• Oversee and manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management.

Accounting Oversight

• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including Staff Accountants.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy across all accounting functions.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Design, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Ensure compliance with tax, payroll, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors and advisors as needed.

Budgeting & Analysis

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to leadership.
• Support strategic decision-making with accurate financial data.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Evaluate and improve accounting systems, workflows, and procedures.
• Support scalability as the accounting team and company grow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required).
• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Prior experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller role preferred.
• Experience managing or reviewing work of accounting staff.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
