Financial Controller And ERP Operations Lead

Job Overview

Our client is seeking a highly detail-oriented and technically strong Financial Controller & ERP Operations Lead to take ownership of financial integrity, margin accuracy, and ERP system transition. This is a critical role that bridges accounting, procurement, and production operations across a complex multi-supplier manufacturing environment spanning Australia and international suppliers.

Client Overview

The client is a bespoke furniture manufacturing company operating in the premium custom production space. Since 2014, the business has built a reputation for precision craftsmanship, trust, and high-end delivery across residential, interior design, and commercial hospitality projects. As the company scales, they are transitioning from fragmented manual systems into a fully integrated ERP environment to strengthen financial control, operational visibility, and long-term scalability.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM Paddington NSW, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

Financial Control & Margin Integrity

• Own the full accrual accounting cycle from customer deposits through to final delivery recognition
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition aligned with production and delivery milestones
• Manage landed cost calculations across international and local manufacturing (materials, labour splits, freight, duties)
• Reconcile multi-currency transactions (AUD, USD, CNY) including FX gains and losses
• Maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) accuracy including inventory in transit and supplier deposits

Procurement & Production Support

• Align purchasing activity with production pipeline and ensure all costs are tagged to Order IDs
• Coordinate financial tracking across 20+ suppliers and multiple manufacturing partners
• Maintain fixed asset register for showroom inventory across multiple locations
• Oversee stock write-offs, samples, and material waste recovery tracking

Systems & ERP Implementation

• Support ERP implementation including historical data cleaning and migration (10 months of records)
• Work closely with ERP consultants to map accounting and operational workflows into system structure
• Ensure financial data integrity across integrated modules (inventory, accounting, procurement)

Reporting & Process Development

• Prepare monthly financial health reporting including cash flow forecasting and pipeline revenue analysis
• Develop and document SOPs across finance, procurement, and production workflows
• Support continuous improvement in financial systems, reporting accuracy, and operational visibility

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years’ experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or controllership roles
• Strong ERP experience (Odoo, NetSuite, SAP preferred) with understanding of integrated inventory/accounting systems
• Experience in manufacturing, made-to-order, or project-based costing environments
• Strong proficiency in financial reconciliation, cost accounting, and FX management
• Experience with tools such as Pipedrive, Monday.com, and PandaDoc
• Strong understanding of payroll controls, approval workflows, and data confidentiality
