The Role: Electrical Estimator

Imagine being the person who brings clarity to every project before it even breaks ground. You’re not just reviewing drawings, you’re understanding the full picture, from materials and labor to the true cost of getting the job done right. When new plans come in, you dive into the details, connect with suppliers for pricing, and build accurate, complete estimates. If something doesn’t add up, you catch it early and when there’s a smarter, more cost-effective approach, you speak up. You don’t just create estimates, you create confidence.

Behind every number is a decision that affects timelines, budgets, and outcomes. You help the team stay competitive, avoid costly surprises, and deliver quality work that meets code and client expectations. You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and vendors to ensure nothing is missed, while continuously improving your process through past project insights. When things slow down, you stay proactive, organizing systems, updating cost data, and preparing for the next opportunity, because in this role, preparation is everything.

What Your Days Might Look Like:

• Review project plans and details to understand what electrical work is needed for residential construction
• Calculate the materials and labor required for electrical systems, including lighting and related components
• Prepare cost estimates covering materials, labor, permits, and other project expenses
• Create and submit clear and competitive bid proposals on time
• Put together detailed bid documents showing cost breakdowns, assumptions, and terms
• Spot potential issues or missing details early and include solutions in the estimates
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and team members to gather accurate information
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to get updated pricing and availability
• Communicate with clients to clarify project details and answer questions
• Make sure all estimates follow electrical codes, local regulations, and energy efficiency standards
• Keep up to date with changes in building codes and safety requirements
• Review past projects to improve accuracy and efficiency in estimating
• Suggest cost-saving options without compromising quality or compliance
• Maintain and update records for labor costs, material prices, and estimating data

Who We Think Will Thrive in This Role:

• You have a degree in Electrical Engineering, giving you a strong understanding of the industry—not just technical knowledge, but how real-world projects are executed
• You have solid experience estimating residential electrical projects, with a clear understanding of NEC requirements
• You’re confident in performing detailed takeoffs and building accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, permits, and related costs
• You have strong attention to detail and can manage multiple bids and deadlines without missing key information
• You’re a clear communicator, able to coordinate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
• You’re proactive in identifying potential issues, gaps, and cost-saving opportunities early in the estimating process
• You enjoy collaborating and thriving in a remote team environment
• You are willing to work in a US time zone schedule.
• You can secure the required technical setup, including:
• At least a 720p HD webcam
• A noise-canceling headset
• A primary internet connection of at least 25 Mbps
• A backup laptop, backup internet device, and backup power source
• A main computer with at least Intel Core i5 (or equivalent) and 8 GB RAM
• A backup computer with at least Intel Core i3 and 4 GB RAM
