What You Will Be Working On
A recruitment Founder is working with a consultancy that has provided a 12 month strategy to generate demand for their business. This can look like a Podcast, a Community, an Article Series, Newsletters, LinkedIn Posting Strategy etc.
The consultancy supports the Founder and the Demand Operator in weekly calls and in a Slack chat. They provide guides, next steps, help review work, advise on how to get work to levels of excellence, upskill in AI, and review and plan 90 days at a time.
The Demand Operator is also in a Slack chat with other Demand Operators to be able to ask how others are doing certain aspects of their projects.
What a Demand Operator Is
The Demand Operator runs the strategy or “Demand Engine” that puts the founder in front of the right people, consistently, without the founder having to do the production work.
It's a deliberately hybrid role depending on your Founder’s strategy and needs.
E.G: Marketing operator. Podcast editor. Paid-media manager. AI workflow owner. Community manager. The closest single label is Demand Operator - the person responsible for everything driving Demand Generation. The person executing the founder’s idea and strategy.
The Demand Operator owns demand execution end-to-end. The founder steps in only where their voice, network, and judgement are required.
This role exists because
Founder-led recruitment and search businesses hit a ceiling when growth is gated by the founder's personal hours. The Demand Operator removes that ceiling. They install and run the system that generates inbound demand on a predictable weekly cadence - so the founder spends their time in conversations and commercial decisions, not in production.
What You Are NOT As a Demand Operator
Not a marketing assistant - you own the strategy execution, not just the tasks
Not a community manager - community happens as a downstream effect of the engine, not as the engine itself
Not a content writer - AI does the heavy lifting; you orchestrate, edit, and brief
Not a personal assistant - you own the demand machine, not the founder's diary
Not a recruiter or salesperson - the founder owns commercial conversations; you create the conditions for them
What You'll Own
(Depending on a founders desire and competency)
The AI infrastructure layer
Day-to-day operation of the AI stack (Claude + Complimentary Tools) that power podcasts, content, market intelligence, and outreach
Maintain the Dream 100 - a tracked list of ICPs, target prospects, peer voices, and reference accounts in the Founder’s space
Run the Monday-morning AI report: weekly intelligence report → drafted content → scheduled posts → flagged opportunities
Improve workflows as the role matures
The content engine
Use the provided Claude Agent to produce and schedule the Founder's weekly LinkedIn output (typically 5 posts/week) in the founder's voice
Own the newsletter process
Repurpose podcast content into clips, written posts, and newsletters
Brief and review any external content suppliers we engage
The authority asset
(Typically a podcast - launched in Months 3–4)
Source guests from the Dream 100 using the AI stack
Send outreach message to the potential guests and have the initial screening call with them
Manage booking, briefing, recording setup, and the handover to production/do the editing using an AI podcast platform
Drive the Founder to have the post episode follow-up conversation to address a commercial opportunity with the guest
Manage a tracker and move guests along different stages of the process
Manage a tracker of podcast performance stats
Paid media - If strategy includes this
Run LinkedIn and Meta ad campaigns: strategy, setup, optimisation OR Manage the relationship with any external paid media agency
Report weekly on spend, ROAS, lead quality, and what's working
Demand pipeline visibility
Track the Founder’s BD opportunity pipeline week by week - outputs and outcomes
Surface what's converting and what isn't, fast
Report meetings booked, opportunities created, and (where measurable) revenue attributed
Partner and supplier orchestration
Manage relationships with external partners: paid media agency, podcast production, design, copy
Brief them, keep them to deadlines, hold them accountable, use their output in your strategy
What good looks like
By end of Month 1
You’re fully onboarded. You’ve worked with the consultancy to ensure the AI stack is configured to the founder's mission. The Dream 100 ICP list is mapped out. Weekly LinkedIn content rhythm running. You're fluent in the founder's voice and POV.
By end of Month 3
The founder is no longer executing demand work. Content is posting consistently. The podcast pipeline is filled three months ahead. First episodes are recorded.
By end of Month 6
The asset is live and running without founder intervention. There's a visible flow from podcast guest to commercial opportunity. You're interpreting the data and proposing improvements, not just executing the plan.
By end of Month 12
Inbound demand for the business is stable and trackable. The founder is operating in judgement and BD, not labour. The Demand Engine compounds without added complexity to the Founder. You own this work.
Who we're looking for
We don't need a specialist in any one of these areas. We need someone with proven exposure across several, and the orchestrator instinct to keep them all moving in parallel. Someone who has initiative to make suggestions and be creative. Take ownership of their projects, not wait for instructions.
Experience that fits
2–5 years in digital marketing, social media management, community management, account management, or media operations
Hands-on with LinkedIn as a content and BD outreach platform; familiarity with Meta, X, TikTok, YouTube or Instagram is a plus
Comfortable with analytics tools (E.G: Google Analytics, social platform analytics, CRM dashboards)
Has used AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, similar) inside real workflows, not just experimented with them or used them to search for answers
Bonus: Worked with similar projects we’ve mentioned in this doc
Bonus: agency or client-services background (the orchestrator instinct is rare and valuable)
Bonus: has produced or supported a podcast, event series, or content publication
Bonus: has worked in or around recruitment, professional services, or B2B
Bonus: Has run or supported paid media campaigns in some form - managed them directly, briefed an agency, or owned reporting
Qualifications
A degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Media Studies, Digital Marketing, or a related field - or equivalent professional experience that demonstrates the same grounding
Relevant certifications are welcome but not required (e.g. AI, Google Analytics, LinkedIn Marketing Labs, Meta Blueprint, HubSpot Inbound Marketing etc)
Traits that matter more than experience
Genuinely organised - runs multiple workstreams without dropping balls
Self motivated & takes initiative - Brings ideas & suggestions of improvement to the founder
Comfortable with ambiguity - early-stage functions have moving parts
Treats the job as installing a system, not just executing tasks
Can write clearly - well-structured English; doesn't need to be a copywriter
Strong relationship instinct - you'll be representing the founder to senior people
Curious about AI - and willing to keep learning as the stack evolves
Outcome-oriented - happy to be measured on meetings booked and opportunities created, not just activity
This is not the right role for someone who
Wants to be a pure content creator
Needs day-to-day task supervision
Sees this as a stepping stone to a more creative role
Is uncomfortable being measured on commercial outcomes
Tools you'll work in
AI & automation: Claude & Complementing AI Tools
Content & scheduling: LinkedIn (Sales Navigator, Campaign Manager), Buffer / native scheduling
Paid media: LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Meta Ads Manager
Podcast: Riverside, [or work with editing partner]
Analytics: Google Analytics, native platform insights, CRM dashboards
CRM: [HubSpot / Atlas / other]
Comms: Platforms like Slack, Teams, Notion, Google Workspace
All subscriptions are provided. You'll inherit a defined operating model, published SOPs, and full training from day one - you are not building this from scratch.
